It took two days to get from California to Nebraska. In about an hour I will see part of my family that I have not seen in four years. I am so excited that I will get to spend a whole week with them. Hopefully I get some tips from my uncle in the kitchen, grab some beers with the cousins and explore these parks. The rural lifestyle is completely new to me, so every second of this trip has really captivated me. Iāve never seen so much greenery and stillness. I absolutely love it and Iām so grateful for this moment. Sadly, at this very moment as well there are so much things going on in the world that I can't ignore. It makes me a bit nervous of what's to come. And reading Slaughterhouse Five isn't really putting me at ease. So it goes.

yall really need to stop coddling nonblack people like kylie jenner, zayn, etc. who continue to appropriate black culture and derail conversations about black oppression because they are young like literally yara shahidi is 16 years old and has an understanding of institutionalized oppression, zendaya actively discusses racism and the importance of representation and shes 19, amandla stenberg has been talking about this stuff since she was 15/16 too likeā¦..yall need to stop acting like nonblack people in their late teens and early 20s are ignorant only bc they are young bc when they reach a certain point, you flip it and sayĀ āits too late for them to learn nowā like honestly, youth is not an excuse when 12 year old tamir rice can get shot in a park, 18 year old michael brown can die with his hands up in the middle of the street, and 17 year old trayvon martin can get shot for holding a bag of skittles and arizona
nonblack privilege is having youth bc when youre black, innocence does not exist because your criminalized from birth

Perhaps one of the most deadly terrorist attacks in the last decade hit Baghdad last night. The death toll is at 200 and climbing by the minute. The victims were mainly families out preparing for Eid or celebrating. People were trapped and burning for hours after the explosion. There is little to no media coverage. No one is mourning, no one believes this is relevant, no one cares. 200 families destroyed. Itās so frustrating. What is it about Iraqi blood that makes it so cheap? Why is our misery okay? Why does the world light up for literally everywhere else? I just want to know why does no one care when it comes to Iraq. Our martyrs donāt get pictures or names. They become a number that people ignore.
Damn, look at my skin glow.

support the arts. go see a friendās theatre production, buy a piece of artwork you love if you can afford it, tip a street musician who made you stop walking to admire their skills. the arts are so beautiful and under appreciated. please commemorate people for the hard work they show through artwork. as an artist, itās so easy to become discouraged, so if you have an opportunity to support an artist, do your best to take it.
