I’m not the only person who smiles and says hello to her dogs when passing in the hallway or entering the room they’re in, right? #dogselfie #dogsarepeopletoo #greetings
Sept 12, 2017- Not much to report lately. We have the majority of our indoor plumbing in place, but otherwise not many changes. I miss the noise and the hustle. Some guys are here today working (finally, it's been weeks!) so I hope to have pictures to upload tonight.
All piled in front of the fireplace in the living room. Good times.
August 10, 2017 update
It’s been an easy, and dare I say, nearly painfree build so far. Had a few horrible thunderstorms before the roof was finished so we had leaks in the fireplace, bedroom ceiling fixture, kitchen window, etc., but that is expected when you have no roof or gutters!
The dogs are miserable and stressed out. We crate them when it’s too much, as that is their safe zone.
The contractors are….amazing. Fun personalities and impressive workmanship is making this job a breeze. The hardest part is choosing all the “style” parts. We’ve had some internal family debates!
Since I work from home, and we are all squeezed into the house during the build, my desk is 1.5ft from my hanging clothes and furniture. Hold on….iI will post a pic of my working situation.
August 10, 2017. Mom’s cottage was framed in today! Loft should go up tomorrow. Exciting stuff!!
We have Windows in the main house, slab poured in the crawl space for the cottage, framing nearly finished!!
August 6, 2017 - Well this past week has been exciting. The second floor is framed. We chose a "charcoal" for the new roof shingles. We opted against the vaulted ceiling in the MBR for various reasons, and the near-daily thunderstorms kept us on our toes! Every bowl and towel in the house was sopping up water from the skylights, fireplace, ceiling fixtures. All is fixed now that the roof is fully on. Messy but no harm done. Next week the cottage should get framed. It's time to choose siding colors! We spent four hours driving around neighborhoods for inspiration. Wish us luck!
Aug 1, 2017 We have walls!!!! Windows are ordered. Time to choose roof shingle color!
July 28, 2017 - Supplies are here. Second floor is supposed to start on Monday
July 28, 2017. Lowered the foundation walls of the cottage and moved the crawl space vents. Earth has been tamped down with a fun little machine. Block has been covered.
June 24, 2017. As the masons stacked course after course of block, I began to panic that it didn’t “feel right.” Sent pics to our contractor (poor guy is half-dead with the flu) and he halted all work. Foundation is WAY too tall.
July 21, 2017. We have footings and partial foundation. (Looks too tall, right? Hmmmmm). My asshole dogs have gone through the fence five times. We just put up the third layer. We shall see.
Nothing like a 90-min workout with 20,000 sweaty friends! (And we finished it!) Heading to Indy next year for #coachsummit2018 ! #decidecommitsucceed #iamteambeachbody #dontgiveup #thankyouNOLA (at Mercedes-Benz Superdome)
July 11, 2017- The very first cement pour hitting the trench. Seriously, am I the only one who gets excited about this stuff?
July 10, 2017. Township inspected and approved the trenches for the support posts! (NB: Happy anniversary, DJ. I can't imagine this life without you.)
