comic characters that are not romani and/or are romani for all the wrong reasons:
dick grayson was born in a traveling circus to a pair of scammers involved with organized crime. while writing him explicitly as white is erasure, it is not the place of gadje to be writing about his being romani.
zatanna zatara is not romani. she was retconned to be jewish and romani for dc bombshells, in which she was victim of an antiromanist and antisemitic hate crime. as a sexualized magic user, her being romani would be bad either way, but the fact that it was only used for trauma porn is even worse.
i can't speak as much on marvel as it's not my usual domain, but to the best of my knowledge:
erik lensherr was not originally romani, he was retconned as sinti specifically as a way to show that he was evil. his being romani has since been retconned.
kurt wagner is not romani. he was adopted and raised by margali szardos, who is romani, but that doesn't make him romani. having a character regularly described as monstrous associated with us isn't something we want.
lorna dane has never been textually romani.
cynthia von doom's alias is the gypsy witch.
it's not the place of gadje to be writing fanfiction or headcanons about our culture in the first place, but with these particular characters it is even more insulting. if you are not romani and you are making a list of romani comic book characters, stop. do not post it. it is not your place. you are more likely to perpetuate antiromanyism than you are to help us.

I hate comic book fans. There’s some new Batman comic where he is like watching over Gotham during a riot and he’s like “I don’t have time for these looters plus all these items are insured and why should I attack people who are mad at this city for the same reasons I am lemme focus on an appropriate target” and the comments are like NOOOOO Batman cares about ALL crime big or small he would fight it all this is out of character !!! Bc to them he’s literally just an omniscient super cop watching over all crime. That’s crazy. The worst and most inaccurate characterization of Batman is the most popular one apparently.
