Heya~ So I hadn’t seen a tutorial on stylistic colour choices so I decided maybe I’d do one??? Anyway, choosing colours for style points is something basically anyone figures out on their own eventually but I guess heres a little nudge for more beginner artists. Remember! You don’t have to copy any of this exactly, just take away the general ideas if you must!
So heres a sketchy Denki, in the colours taken from the anime ^^
Here (right) the colours are warmer. Here (left) the colours are cooler.
On the right the vibrancy has been increased whereas on the left the vibrancy has been decreased (please note that saturation and vibrancy are different!).
Denki numero 6 has been duplicated and the top layer being turned on ‘overlay’ mode! Same here with Denki 7 but this time with ‘multiply’ mode.
Solid colour multiply layers put over the top! (This would probably be better for lighting but I’ve seen some artists do it and it looks nice??? so...)
Pastels and neons! Pastel was created by upping the brightness (not Lightness!!) and reducing the contrast. Neon was created by increasing the saturation and contrast.
