the very specific annoying uncle/gremlin nephew relationship that edward elric and roy mustang share is both the funniest and most heartwarming thing ever like...they hate the everloving shit out of each other but they're so fucking ride or die its so funny
i have you tattooed on my skinÂ
iâm tired of historical dramas trying to spice things up with sex scenes instead of giving the audience what they really want which is excessively long scenes of noble women being dressed in sumptuous and period accurate layers by their attendants with gratuitous shots of the era-appropriate fastenings and lacings being done
i canât stop thinking about that tweet about the guy who tried to stop his cat from pushing his door open and accidentally trained him to push 50lbs instead
he cannot be stopped

Oh wow. Feelings.
My husbandâs job primarily employs adult men but there is one (1) teenage girl and my husband said originally he worried she might be a bit of an outcast but instead every man on the crew was like âhuh guess I am a dad/older brother now.â
She was in a car crash on the way to work one morning and called my husband to let him know sheâd be late and he was like wtf guess Iâm gonna be late too because Iâm coming to pick you up and then he told his team and they were like I think you mean WE are coming.
Imagine you are a teenage girl probably rushing to get to work and you crash your probably new car and feel absolutely miserable and now youâll be late to work but then suddenly in the distance a car full of all the adult men you work with just pulls up and is like âwe came all the way here to pick you upâ the mental image right now is fr.
Apparently she tried to call her dad but it was 3am and he was obviously sleeping so she called my husband and he not only came to find her but fished her glasses out of the hood of the car (sheâd dropped them while looking inside), drove her to the hospital, and told her to take the day off. She insisted on coming back to work so he used his lunch break to watch TV with her to make sure she didnât doze off (concussion risk).
Youâve heard of the Mom friend but my husband is very much the Dad friend. He said when he answered the phone she said âhey please donât be madâ and heâs never felt such powerful Fatherhood energy in his life.
Bold of you to assume heâs not well past that point.
Writing is a process that often undergoes heavy edits⌠that includes responding to feedback.Â
I had no idea this post would resonate with so many people. I let my vitriol surrounding several comments I received on a recent update get to me and it spilled out into .gif form and itâs now morphed into the most widely shared thing Iâve ever posted. So many comments and tags have said things along the lines of, âThis was why I quit writingâ or âThis is why I hate writing fanfic.â And thatâs soul crushing to hear, but I can relate.Â
But while there are some crappy and entitled readers, there are also many brilliant ones and Iâm so grateful for them. The huge response to this post made me go back and skim through the comments on my old stories, and comments like the one below are about half the reason some of those stories got finished, even if it was months later.Â
Comments like these are so rare, but when they do come up, they leave me staring at my computer screen, drumming my fingers on the keyboard, struggling to convey my feelings about how their words have touched my heart. These are the comments that take the longest amount of time to respond to and the ones that cause me to wear out my backspace key the fastest.Â
Itâs easy to complain, but itâs literally just as easy to praise, so I just wanted to take a moment to recognize all those dear and dedicated readers who have propped me up when I wanted to quit. Readers like you are why I keep writing, and why I even feel honored to do it on rare occasion.Â
And fellow writers, keep your heads up if you can. :)Â
types of short fic

twitterature:Â 280 characters or less
7x7:Â exactly 49 words long (Blakeâs 7 fandom)
dribble:Â exactly 55 words long (LoTR fandom, The Faculty fandom). The same word count was popular in both Harry Potter and Farscape, but without a specific name. Dribble is sometimes seen as a half-drabble that is therefore 50 words long.

double drabble: exactly 200 words long
221B: 221 words long with the last word starting in B (Sherlock fandom)

list pulled together from Fanlore - feel free to add more fandom-specific ones!
Would also add 3 Sentence Fics to this! Itâs exactly what it sounds like :)

what the FUCK was Tchaikovsky thinking when he wrote the pas de deux for the sugar plum fairy????dude wrote that first buildup and then he fucking edges you with some fakeout crescendo that sounds absolutely amazing. then boom, you think he's going in for his big finish, he's got that second moment where all the instruments are coming together and it sounds otherworldly but he's like WAIT hoes I ain't even finished yet. then BOOM he hits you with the most magical, transcendent, beautiful fucking note change after that third buildup and MY GOD!!!! it's just too good. Tchaikovsky, that absolutely madman. I know the Russians were tripping the fuck out in the ballet when he dropped this. just,,MUAH perfection!!!
gender repeal party
we all meet up in the woods and release our genders into the wild
then we hunt them for sport
tired: mermaids are all women
wired: much like elves, merfolk are mistaken by sailors for being all women because they have long hair and are very pretty
inspired: merfolk actually have very different concepts of gender to humans because they're an entirely different species with their own unique culture
marine scientist: what's your gender?
merperson: what's a gender
marine scientist: like, are you a man or a woman?
merperson: i'm merfolk
marine scientist: no, like, what's in your pants?
merperson: i don't... wear any? i don't have legs?
Itâs a biological fact that fish do indeed change their sex to keep the male/female ratio balanced in their school population. So this fluidity actually makes more sense from a scientific standpoint than the silly idea that merfolk are born with a strictly assigned sex like humans.
Merfolk are all canonically genderfluid and we love them for that
Human: (invites merfolk friend to a boat party with their friends)
Merfolk: oh man, there are a lot of women here. Haha donât worry guys, I got this :) *changes into a man to keep a balance because thatâs culturally polite for merfolk*
Human: (spits drink) what the FUCK
OH MY GOD
