i've mostly been working on competition stuff this week so i can't publish any of that, but here's a sneak peak of the thing i'm working on for the cozy fanfic server's current event! this is set in the time skip before the epilogue in red dead 2, featuring my favourite messy family as they try to be less messy.

They sat there a while. At one point, Jack started humming to himself as he picked through the stones on the shore, turning them over and inspecting them for whatever delights an inquisitive young boy could find underneath. Abigail recognised the tune but it took her a minute or so to place it as a bawdy drinking song that was popular in local saloons. It might even have been sung at camp a few times.

Jack was a clever boy; hopefully he didn’t understand the lyrics too well yet.

There were still no signs of John coming back, so Abigail took off her shoes and dipped her feet into the water. It was pleasantly cool, even under the bright sun, and she sighed happily. The water was so clear she could see right through to the bottom and she dug her toes into the silt, unbothered by the prickle of stones against her skin. No fish, this close to shore, but she could see them a short distance away, little glimmers darting back and forth.

She closed her eyes and basked. Birds twittered loudly in the trees, water lapped softly at her ankles, and, for the first time in god knows how long, she felt truly at peace. No yelling. No gunshots. Just the world as it was supposed to be.

ok thank god there's so many fucking videos showing you how to do a ladder stitch like it's some kind of magic trick but here's the actual use case for it: closing a seam you can't reach the inside of. in all other cases, if you're fixing a ripped seam on pants, or on a tshirt, the ladder stitch is a messy, glorified running stitch.

Man i feel really bad for the guy who wrote this article because the article actually manages to raise a very very very good point but the way the headline is phrased completely omits 95% of what they were trying to say

And because i know people won’t even bother to click and check the article itself i’m gonna screencap it, it’s fairly short, give it a read:

tl;dr: the article’s point isn’t “corporate satire is not funny anymore as in “we should stop making fun of corporations””, the article’s point is “corporate satire is not funny as in “it’s extremely depressing to live in a capitalistic hellhole and corporate satire aims more to poke fun at that without actually making you think about our world or giving you hope for a better future, and therefore it’s just lost its bite””
