I will never not reblog this when I see it.
So freaking true.
Join us as Ms. Turchi, the new executive director of Peace Action New York State, talks about her years of experience in human rights and international criminal justice. She has worked for the United Nations in The Hague, where she worked on the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon among other projects. Hear her story. *Supported by mandatory student activity fees.
Everybody’s worried about stopping terrorism. Well, there’s a really easy way: stop participating in it.

The Authorities In Egypt Want To Ban This Documentary. See Why.
Whether you’re clued up on what’s been happening in Egypt over the past few years or you’re just delving into this fascinating country, check out this documentary trailer for “The Square.” It goes behind all the headlines and follows young bad-ass activists who dig deep into the uprising.
According to the New York Times, the Egyptian authorities aren’t too happy with the Egyptian public seeing it and have heavily censored and restricted it. Good luck with that, guys.
Lazy criticism for people working hard to find employment.
[Image is a circle broken into 8 parts- with two smaller circles inside. The inside circles read ‘Power and Control’ and ‘Sexual, Physical, Verbal, and Emotional Abuse’. The 8 parts are as follows:
'Isolation: Pressures you to choose between him and your friends or family. Pressures you to quit your job or other extra-curricular activities.'
'Humiliation: Calls you names privately or in front of others. Puts you down or makes fun of your race, religion, class or family. Inappropriately grabs you or shows your personal items in public.'
'Limiting Independence: Wants to control what you wear and how you look. Pressures you to use cigarettes, alcohol or drugs. Wants to make all the decisions in the relationship.'
'Using Male Privilege: Acts like he is the boss and what he says, goes. Tells you that men make all the decisions. Demands you get his permission to go somewhere or do something.'
'Threats: Threatens to harm you, your friends or family. Threatens suicide if you leave him or don't do what he wants. Threatens to break up with you.'
'Violating your privacy: Reads your notes to or from other people. Goes through your purse, locker, or book bag without permission. Forces unwanted intimacy. Refuses to stop 'wrestling' when asked'
'Intimidation: Tries to scare you by smashing things, yelling, driving recklessly, or with looks and gestures. Threatens to get you in trouble with family, friends or school.'
'Harassment: Follows you and frequently shows up uninvited. Makes prank phone calls. Spreads rumors. Tries to have contact after you have ended the relationship.'
Outside of the big circle is the ACADV logo on the left upperhand side, ‘Teens’ on the Right. at the bottom it says ‘Chart courtesy of the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence. P.O. Box 4762 Montgomery, AL 36101’ and ‘Sources: Domestic Abuse Intervention Project Duluth, MN, Getting Free, Ginny NiCarthy @ 1986, Seal Press, Seattle, WA’]
While this does focus on males as the aggressor- I think this is a really good resource for Teens. A lot of people like to pretend that teen dating violence isn’t a thing- but it is something that needs to be addressed.

Reblogging for the gif about shrinking Native American territories. Just look at the huge difference between 1860 and 1870. In just ten years.
