@the-lcvable-rcgue:
Elias turns at the sound of her voice, green eyes quickly settling on the approaching form of his beloved’s best friend. He offers her a smile as she comes nearer.
He has to admit, it is good to see her. In their time at the castle, he has gotten used to seeing the young noblewoman around, whether she was with Phaedra or they had simply run into each other again. The last few weeks, with her confined to her room after the birth of her son, had been strange without at least her passing presence.
“I’ve been well,” he says, but it is not his health that has been the question here so he is quick to flip the conversation to her. “I can imagine. How have you been? I hope your recovery went well.”
“Yes, it went quite well,” Genevieve answered. Even if it hadn’t gone incredibly smoothly, there was no need to share that fact, especially since she was standing here now. “My family has been wonderful these past few weeks.”

“Elias!” Genevieve called out, seeing the pirate walking along the beach. She’d been finally getting a bit of fresh air after being held inside for the few weeks after the birth of her son. “How are you, sir? It seems like ages since I’ve seen a face other than my mother’s and my husband’s.”
of-servants-pirates-and-lords:
Elias gives a nod as his only reply.
His eyes watch the sea a moment longer as silence falls over them but while Elias does not like the business of the castle or the expectations and rules that accompany it. He does not like silence, at least in the presence of another, much either.
The conversation quickly changes, morphing into one with a bit more substance.
“How have you been doing?” he asks.
Elias has not witnessed a pregnancy either but he knows what he has heard about them. Despite a new child being a joy to the family they belong to, pregnancies are hard, uncomfortable, and often times dangerous things.
Genevieve has had more silence as of late than she cared for, so she had to admit she was grateful when he spoke again. She smiled toward him. “Relatively well, actually,” she replied. “My husband has been doing his best to ensure that everything goes smoothly, but there is only so much he can ensure.” Her mother was helping her get through the harder times, the times she hid from Reuben, but as she neared sooner to the day she would give birth, she was growing anxious.
of-servants-pirates-and-lords:
“Not at all,” Elias answered, flashing his signature crooked smile.
His eyes did not linger on her long, however. They quickly fell back upon the sea.
“Is the castle life beginning to get too much? Even for you?”
Genevieve held her stomach as she lowered herself to the ground. She offered a smile, her own eyes moving to the sea as his did. “As well as I seem to fit the castle life, I’m not exactly used to it.” She chuckled, kicking her shoes off to dig her toes into the sand. “Besides, I needed a bit of fresh air.”
Open Starter: Elias
Elias had not been raised to love the sea. His mother had raised for the short time they had had together inland, in a small one-room house that seemed to him one good storm from falling down on top of them even then. Yet, the sea had always felt like home. Like all the great loves of his life, he always came back to her.
He sat now on the shore, just beyond the surf, watching the waves crash on the shore. His fingers turned a small, broken sea shell over and over as he thought. So lost in thought was he, that he almost did not hear the person approaching him from behind.
Genevieve, in her nature, had always been a part of the sea. Winterlyn was surrounded by water, and there were lakes and waterfalls all inside it - truly a haven for the merpeople. She had decided to take a walk to help clear her mind ( things had seemed so busy lately ) and by chance, found herself in Elias’s path.
“Would I be interrupting too terribly if I sat with you?” she asked, brow raised in question. She didn’t necessarily desire conversation, simply peaceful company.

Phaedra took the tea with a smile, gently blowing on the hot liquid. “Elias may be quite large, but he is also quite swift. He rounded the opposite corner just as father came into view. It’s all getting far too tiresome.” She said the last with a small sigh. “But enough about me. How are you feeling? Have you been eating enough?”
“Well, I’m glad he was able to get away, but I do hope you don’t have to keep hiding for much longer. It isn’t fair to either of you.” But no matter how many times she said it, she knew it wouldn’t change anything. Genevieve just hoped it would all have a good outcome in the end. “I’ve been a bit under the weather recently, but I think it’s just the cold coming in making me more tired than usual. And yes, I’m eating plenty. I think if I wasn’t Reuben might force me to eat.”
phaedraxgerrior:
Phaedra nodded. She too hadn’t much left her room, and even when she did it was brief. “Yes please,” She replied, moving to take a seat. “Oh yes,” Phaedra said with a small laugh. “He nearly caught Elias and I a few weeks back.” She said, unintentionally lowering her voice for a moment. “I am doing as well as I can be.” She said with a smile. “Happier now that things are back to normal.”
Gen nodded and poured a second cup of tea, passing it to her best friend. She stifled a giggle at the revelation. “I can imagine how well that would’ve gone over. How did you manage to avoid him catching you?” She nodded at Phaedra’s last words. It was certainly much easier for all of them without worrying about what was going on. “Happier is always good.”
phaedraxgerrior:
Phaedra smiled widely as the blonde opened the door. “Gen.” She said happily. “Look at you, you are simply glowing.” She stated, taking in the growing bump of a belly the young woman now had. Phaedra had been overjoyed at the news of Genevieve and Reuben expecting a child. “I’ve missed you, this palace is so large I get lost and forget my way more than I’d like to admit. So please forgive me that we have not spent much time together.”
Gen’s smile only grew as she glanced down at her belly. It had certainly taken a bit of adjustment ( she often found herself eating a number of things she’d previously detested ) but she was excited nonetheless. “Thank you,” she replied and took a deep breath before moving to sit back down. “I’ve missed you as well, but there is nothing to forgive. In truth, after that odd bit of magical surge or whatever it was, I haven’t much left my room. Tea?” she asked as she poured herself a cup. “But how are you? Is your father still as adamant as always?”

Time seemed to have passed quickly over the last few weeks. Phaedra felt like she had just blinked and the air was getting colder and snow had already fallen once or twice. The young fairy felt down, not because of the weather, but because she had not seen Genevieve in quite some time. Phaedra made her way down the hallway and knocked softly on her best friends door, hoping she was there.
Gen had felt a little less than herself as of late, though that was of no one else’s fault, so she’d not left her room for much other than what duties she had to fulfill. But today had been treating her relatively well. Still, she had returned to her room shortly after a meal with her mother and sister and had been about to open a book when she’d heard the knock on the door. “Phae!” A smile instantly came to her face. “Oh, it’s so good to see you. Please, come in.”

Genevieve had very little recollection of how exactly she’d gotten to the beach. All she knew for certain was that she was stuck with her tail for the time being. Try as she might, she hadn’t been able to get her legs back, and she knew the same sort of thing had been happening all over. She swam up to shore, resting on the sand though her tail was still immersed in the water.
“Phae!” she called out, seeing her friend. She had news to share, but she wasn’t sure if now was quite the right time to share it. “Phae, what’s going on? We’re all stuck out here, and I have no idea what’s happening.”

"Interesting," came Elias' response.
Of course, he could understand the sentiment but Elias had not grown up among all of this. He was not used to it the way he assumed most of these people were. He concidered Phaedra an odd and alluring exception to the unspoken rule that those in power always fought for more power, but Genevieve spoke as if there were more and that did intrigue him some. Not enough for him to dwell on it for more than a moment, but it did.
"So," he said, allowing the conversation to shift to a much less dangerous topic. It wouldn't be hard to give something away if they spoke of Phaedra too long. "Since you seem to know all about this, help a man out. What is there to do in a place like this? Surely, there must be something."
“Is it?” Genevieve asked, turning her head slightly to watch him. She could certainly see why Phaedra had been drawn to him in the first place. She offered a smile at his question. “Quite a bit,” she replied. “There’s the library, full of wonderful books. The gardens are quite beautiful, wonderful if you’d like a moment to yourself. And the food is exquisite.”

Nezetta smiled at the memory. Aphria was her first friend after she began working for Cassemir and his family, one of two, and the only one to stand by her to this day. She remembered their meeting quite clearly even after all this time. “It was one of the times our two houses were together. I was walking to my bedchambers after being dismissed from my duties and noticed an open door. I probably shouldn’t have but I peeked in and saw Aphria. She was dancing and I watched her for a moment before she saw me standing there. She pulled me in to dance with her and well…she has been my dearest friend since.”
Genevieve let out a soft laugh as she heard the story. It sounded just like Aphria to not care who she was dancing with. “I’m glad. My sister can get so easily swept away in her dancing. Lucky it was you looking in her door,” she replied. It could’ve been someone less trustworthy. “And your family? What are they like?”
