Rocky, who after so long of 1: being a bit of a freak who eats in front of others and 2: realizing that eating is a VERY communal experience for humans because they literally bond over the struggle to eat and survive and making sure the community is fed… and that his human wasn’t well fed at all for those last few years, well, Rocky may or may not eat at the same time as Grace, but he definitely spends time with him while Grace eats, wanting to keep him company and make sure he never believes he’s been abandoned by the community. Humans genuinely have a sense of shame in being shunned from group meals. Grace learns to accept watching his friend sleep, and being watched by him the same, Rocky will accept watching Grace eat. Making sure his human is eating again now that they have a few crops growing and Grace can add some veggies and maybe basic breads to his cannibal diet?? That’s important.
All this to say, whether or not Adrian decides to join them for those meals, I think they would happily accept their second favorite part about Grace’s new diet and sense of community (because his favorite part about it is how happy it makes Rocky to see their human healthy) and accepts that after big meals, Grace likes nothing more than a mindless movie and to flop into Adrian’s lap and veg out in a food coma. It makes Rocky so happy too, he hasn’t been able to see Grace so content since the very beginning of their trip to Erid.
Sometimes Adrian will rub his belly and talk with Rocky about how cute it is that Grace’s food pouch shows when he’s had a good meal, and he’s growing soft parts that Rocky said he had when Rocky first met him. Meanwhile Grace is humming so happily it’s nearly a purr, holding onto Adrian’s arm so they can cuddle (Adrian is so happy their spouse brought home this squishy little creature, it’s so cute!!!) and get belly rubs still.
They want to make him chubby, content, so full of love and community that he could not wish for more, and absolutely spoiled. He’s their laphuman.
