ALL. OF. THIS.
You did not trust her. Seems you do not trust any of us.
Probably my favorite sequence from the new episode. It went from tense, to thrilling, to hilarious in quick sucession hahaha. Also the fact Nott's butt is so shiny.. like why??🤣
everybody say "thank you superman 2025 for bringing truly irredeemable villains back with lex luther!"
he is a cold blooded killer. he has pathetic tantrums and throws pens on the floor. he only wears black. he delivers a fantasically evil villain monologue. he cries pathetically when beaten. his motivation is not related to some tragic backstory, but is simply jealousy twisted into something so deplorably evil. he is bald.
this movie really is All That™️ and then some.
I love that this film did NOTHING to humanise Lex <3
Because there is nothing human about "people" like Lex
We need to bring that energy back
We need to bring back hatred of "people" like Lex Luthor
Now, more than ever, given all the things happening in the real world
I am kind of amused that some folk on this site have tried to do the standard shipping the hero and villain thing, even though it rings really hollow considering, you know, Lex was doing things like kidnapping and torturing Superman's dog and then gleefully telling an incapacitated Supes that they were working out how to put Krypto down in the most painful way possible just to upset Clark more.
Like, even one of the reactions to the film I've watched (can't remember which one) tried to make jokes about how Lex was in love with Superman... only for them to quickly fade away upon the whole "kidnaps random people Superman spoke to to murder in front of him as a form of emotional torture" thing.
YES! This exactly. Honestly even on an unserious level it's hard to properly put to words how weird the SuperLex shipping is for this movie considering ALL THE INCREDIBLY MESSED UP DEPLORABLE THINGS LEX DOES INCLUDING AND UP TO KIDNAPPING RANDOM PEOPLE IN SOME WAY ON GOOD TERMS WITH SUPERMAN TO EMOTIONALLY TORTURE HIM WHILE GLEEFULLY MURDERING AN INNOCENT FOOD VENDOR.
That aside, this movie does such a great job of bridging together classic over the top comic book villainy with the real life insidious cruelty and callousness all too present in real life billionaires.
In that way, him and Superman/Clark serve as excellent foils: Lex is human but there is nothing truly "human" about him, just truly all the worst of humanity and beyond, while Superman/Clark despite being technically an alien with near god-like powers, truly represents the best of humanity and is a trillion times over more human than Lex could ever hope to me.

Anyone who has spent literally ANY time swimming knows how hard it is - in general and on the body - to stay submerged so long without physics doing it's thing to force you back up. The sheer level of control and dexterity these dancers must have to dance and move and stay in place so gracefully is mindblowing and must be commended 🤩
Lord please protect the people of Congo, Palestine and others around the world who are facing death, cruelty, genocide and many other inhumane things happening around them. Give me strength and direction to reach my full potential so that I can help those that needs my help 🙏🏾
My family is one of the people who need help the most. You can donate even the smallest amount to them. It will make a difference in our lives. Donate here.
many times in the new movie, clark says something to the effect of "i want to be a good person, i want to do good" and it's just. god. such a deeply common desire, one that could sound childish or naive if he didn't seem so desperately adamant about it. it's what i've always appreciated about the superman comics (and other superheroes, to be fair), the idea that most people, maybe all people, wake up every day and, despite everything that's out of their control, they try their best to do what they think is right.
clark is honestly flying blind a lot of the time. he fights with lois, he's always in trouble at work, he's a superhuman hero with problems that keep getting harder to fight. and yet he finds time to surprise lois for a 3 month anniversary, he makes friends with his falafel cart guy, he takes the time to save squirrels and, after battles, he always turns to the citizens, the children, before the cameras.
james gunn's (and david corenswet's!) superman could easily feel overly idealistic, but it's clear that his "goodness" is not a thing he is flippant about or takes lightly. he's a superhero reporter, he spends half of his days fighting evil and the other half writing about it, he's not unaware. he is hopeful and kind in the face of really scary shit because he knows that that is what being good is. he's an alien with super strength and laser eyes and yet he feels so relatable and deeply inspirational. bc at the end of the day, what is superman?
as always, he's a friend. :)
YES. ALL THIS. Honestly this movie did a great job of showing that while yes his super strength, flight, and so on definitely are a great feature, his real power is his humanity (which is a lot more than one can say for Lex Luthor), his kindness, and his ability to inspire people.🥺💙💖
Ohhh, bless the new Superman movie for giving me back the boy scout who believes in the innate goodness of humanity. Who thrives in the sunlight. Who thinks of himself as a servant to the world.
Bless it for giving us a smart and insightful and nuanced Lois Lane, who asks the difficult questions about power and privilege, even of those she loves. Perhaps especially of those she loves. The Lois who is a hero in her own right, on her own merits.
Bless it for Me Terrific, who was honestly terrific, and for Lex Luthor, who dripped his narcissism and rage with such convincing characterization.
Bless it for the small, charming moments from Perry, and Jimmy, and the Kents themselves, who actually seemed like Kansas farmers and not beautiful Hollywood actors wearing plaid.
Bless it... And I can believe I'm saying this... For Krypto. Who was actually value added to this delightful movie.
Superman was a delight. I have missed seeing Clark this way. Thank you cast, crew, writers, and all. I appreciate you.
Amen to that. This movie was everything I hoped for and more 😊
As soon as I saw Ma Kent loud talking above her phone to make sure Clark could hear how proud she was, I immediately knew they fucking nailed it.
Yes it was so endearing and human and sweet and made me so happy 😊💙
SUPERMAN SAID FREE PALESTINE, FUCK AI + TECH BILLIONAIRES , AND NEVER GIVE IN TO DESPAIR. WELCOME BACK ANTI FASCIST SUPERHEROES!!!!!
THANK YOU JAMES GUNN. THANK YOU SUPERMAN 2025 CAST. THIS IS WHAT - WHO - SUPERMAN IS MEANT TO BE
Good for him 👏💥
Superman is for EVERYONE ✨
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
Mad props to James Gunn for giving Lois agency. She saves Superman! She figures out what’s happening with Lex. At no point in the movie does Clark have to save Lois. It’s so nice getting to watch a woman just be a brilliant badass. I also think this is the first time I’ve seen Lois interact with the Kents. When she tells Clark she loves him too it’s because she’s seen him as Superman hero of Metropolis and Clark Kent from Smallville.
YES. THANK YOU. VERY UNDERRATED AND OVERLOOKED PART OF THIS MOVIE. LOIS IS A BADASS
Superman (2025) really said "Free Palestine" and "kept the billionaire tech bros out of the government." And I love it for that.
Yes that made me so happy and I could kiss James Gunn for it. Fantastic movie.
Lois: "You think everyone you meet is beautiful."
Clark: "Maybe that’s the real punk rock."
Being optimistic, compassionate and loving in a world trying to make you cynical and apathetic really is the most badass thing of all...There's this quote by Iain Thomas that said something similar to the Superman (2025) message:
“Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place.”
I love how this movie made my heart warm and joyful again ❤️
I was so happy that this movie said this explicitly, like this is what I thought when watching the trailer of how nowadays believing in and seeing and doing good is the TRUE counterculture. Literally still riding the high of seeing this movie and walked out of the theater absolutely giddy and walking on air. I urge everyone to see it if you can 💖
Arguably, the best part of Superman for me was how direct it was in what they were trying to say, especially right now.
It is more than just "good vs. evil", there is literally *zero* defense for the evil. The main villain is the CEO of a weapons company operating privately with multiple governments, and his entire rationale for doing what he does is because he's so insanely xenophobic that he'd rather see the world burn than see Superman simply exist. The country he's funding is literally invading another country under the guise of "saving them" where in reality, the president explicitly says he wants them all dead. And the US is allied with them for no other reason in that they help line their pockets. God, how I've missed villains like that, especially ones who reflect the ones we see in real life.
And on the good side of things, Superman simply wants people to live freely and happily, including himself. That's it. There's no "secret fucked up moral" that he has, nor is there a "secret good side" to Lex. It's just "here is a good person, and here is a bad person", and it has still managed to immensely piss a certain group of people off.
Overall, I think this film's message succeeds and does it well. And it just feels even more worthwhile when the main character is quite literally an "immigrant alien" himself. I really hope James Gunn gets to lead more superhero projects in the future, because I've been enjoying all of them so much.
But yeah. Go watch this film. Nicholas Hoult the actor that you are.
Indeed. This is hands-down probably the most unequivocally loathsome, cruel, diabolical, make-you-flip-of-the-screen-when-he-appears Lex has ever been. Hats off to you James Gunn
the movie ever. HOPE and LOVE and JOY and WHIMSY is BACK IN BUSINESS
something incredible to me from superman 2025 is that as superman is being interviewed aggressively by Lois Lane about intervening in international politics, his literal number one repeated over and over response was "I saved people from dying. People were going to die how on earth can you conscionably care about anything else they were going to kill people' .
Something about Clark Kent, a trained journalist who absolutely knows how to challenge and express himself under these conditions, but the only thing that he says- and the only thing that really matters- is that people's goddamn lives were at stake .
He essentially spells it out later: in a world where tangled bureaucracy, political machinations, cynicism, and being jaded to loss of life is the norm, being good, caring, and kind is the true punk.
