@gleamknight + winterfes (MURDER ON POLAR EXPRESS)
The novelty of a free train ride through an as of yet unexplored area of the island was too good to pass up. It seemed plenty of other passengers were interested in the offer, although he seemed one of the few with his eyes glued to the window. This preoccupation made for a sense of whiplash upon hearing the news: a body had been found in the baggage area.
Startled into a gasp, the boy looked around him at his fellow passengers. If what the conductor said was true, this meant someone aboard was a cold-blooded killer. He shuddered at the thought and surreptitiously stood from his seat, inching towards the back of the car.
How fortuitous then to pass by a familiarly flamboyant man in a similar state of confusion. Committing a double-take, Genis’ face scrunched up into a grimace and he didn’t stop his lips from angrily whispering, “Zelos?!”
@viladlind + winterfes (YOU BAKE IT YOU BUY IT)
What should have been a simple exercise in stress-relieving baking had quickly snowballed into complete acceptance of the competition. While excitement at the free reign over baking materials was the initial allure, Genis now wiped sweat from his forehead thanks to all his exertion. He'd been by the oven for almost an hour after finishing the mixing preparations for his shortcake and in spite of the weather outside, his temperature rose as he hoped his cake would.
With oversized mitts on, he pulled out the tray with his dessert and let loose a sparkling smile. The texture looked hearty and set, so the next step was decoration. He looked out to the various passersby and caught one's eyes, soon rushing over to them and reaching out a hand.
"Hey! Do you want to try the best shortcake this contest has to offer?" he asked with raised brows, hand still outstretched for the stranger to clasp. "You can even help with the decorations!"
i was planning an angst drabble for the "covet" event re: genis + raine, but i keep crying and can't finish lmao better to skip this i think. and back to work on regular writing (・ ロ・)ゝ
note: i'm going to be working on the remaining starters & replies i have going rather than focus on 'cyor'. i am debating just doing a drabble for genis since there's a tempting option that will cause me to cry '(゚_゚)'
It would be an understatement to say that Genis was looking forward to finding his oldest friend. He'd become aware of the capacity for his cell phone to search for and communicate with familiar names, but that technology was still foreign to him. Instead, he wandered from the dense Mistwood towards the Forest of Airaisal in search of a certain forge and its master.
He knew it was the right place when his ears picked up on metal clangs and whistling steam not far ahead. Rather than announce himself with a loud flourish like someone might do, Genis let his racing heart lead him around the corner and against a wall of intense heat. There he spotted a familiar figure, albeit clad in appropriate forger's protection, and he gasped.
"Lloyd!" he shouted with zeal and a face-splitting grin. And despite a certain Dwarven Vow, he went running towards his friend, only to trip on a stray tool with an "Oomf!"
@twohundredpower
"I mean if it was a trap I think someone would've noticed by now wouldn't they?"
Not that she didn't feel he might've had a point. Free "endless soup" sounded like a ploy to drag anyone and everyone into one location. Yet as far as Mika could tell she couldn't notice anything particular wrong with it, outside of how warm it actually was.
"You don't need to take my word for it but it does smell homemade. And if the first bowl didn't kill me surely the second wouldn't..."
"Haa-ah!" he cried out in surprise, clearly not expecting anyone to reply to his dour musings.
With a hand having gone straight to his heart and wide eyes staring at the stranger, Genis took a hopefully imperceptible step backwards before he practiced deep breaths. After that calming strategy mitigated some of his initial shock, his jaw fell agape at the other's implications.
"You're telling me you tried suspicious food because it smells good? And you're going for another serving?!" Cringing, he let loose another shaky exhale. "Did you... feel any different afterwards?"
@originskey
It took time for the reality of his situation to sink in. Sure, he could accept being kidnapped or brought to a different dimension, those weren't too far-fetched. What rankled Genis' practical mind was how his magic was indeed stripped down to where he could barely cast a fireball. And for what? Was it not bad enough he had no familiar sights nor people to lean on?
Such thoughts made for the complex internal monologue that accompanied his plodding steps while staking out the best spot to work out his frustrations. Since it was winter and snow piled high in a section of Mistwood, he only needed to stay on the fringes to build himself a couple of makeshift targets out of snow.
On his knees amid the white fluff, he focused more on the solidity of snow targets than sensations like the full-body shivering occurring. It was easy enough to tune out all extraneous sounds since the weather delivered an acoustic hush, though his own short huffs and occasional curses seemed louder than usual.
@witchoftrinity + winterfes (soups up)
Having ventured away from the gaping chasm in the middle of the city, Genis found himself drawn to the allure of various savory scents in the air. The more he followed his nose, the louder a crowd's rumbling grew, until he arrived at the source of it all: a gigantic pot.
He refrained from pushing through the crowd like some hungry patrons seemed to do and instead ambled to the side where a festive sign was propped up. It proclaimed "FREE SOUP!!!!" with no further elaboration or even sign-off from the writer. He sighed, shaking his head at the disappointment since he was pretty hungry.
"Couldn't anybody be supplying this food? I don't care how good it smells if it's a trap!"
i'm itching to get started anew with my lovely son here so if you'd like to interact with genis, give this a like :) i'll cap at three for now but symphonia castmates can go beyond that. these may or may not involve winterfes activities!
i'm bringing back my boy, genis sage from tales of symphonia! it's a re-app, but I'd like to reset his stats and memories. application is at /app or "03."
Welcome back!
You'll be staying in TOWNHOUSE 205!
You'll be able to cast FIREBALL but the balls of fire are reduced in size!
You'll be given a REALLY CHEAP KENDAMA!
Enjoy your stay!

“All the elves stories I’ve been told when I was younger were in fairy-tale books or movies. Do you have a little at home knowing that Cotes ward is a fairy-tale land?”
"Hey, I’m not some mythical creature!” the half-elf huffed, only to be shushed by one of the other library patrons nearby. He breathed out a soft sigh and aimed a mocking smile at the man standing beside him in front of a bookshelf. “Where I’m from, there’s more than just humans. Do you feel out of place or something?”

—✕ █ ▌❝I tell you what – I’m sick of pain. For all I’ve heard, for all I’ve seen.❞
“Uh... sorry?” the preteen responded with a quizzical furrow to his brows. Deciding to roll with it, he shrugged. “I don’t blame you though. Life sucks sometimes.”

Link spent most of his time out in the forest- he’d decided to make his house here for a reason, and he was always at home around (most) of the animals who lived here. And even though he wasn’t actually a kokiri, animals didn’t seem to mind him much either- maybe it was because he’d grown up in the forest.
He raised his head when he heard a new noise, expecting it to be another animal, or maybe one of his roommates- but his guess was apparently way off, and he instead found himself looking at a new kid. He waved enthusiastically, curious to see someone new- the deer was less excited though, running off into the nearby woods.
‘Hi! I haven’t seen you around here before- who are you?’
As he expected, the deer seemed to only be interested in acting friendly with the other boy. Genis would be lying to say he wasn’t disappointed at the quick retreat of the creature, but he was thankful for the other kid’s attention being quickly brought his way.
“Ah, about that... I think I’m lost.” he replied a little sheepishly, not happy to admit the truth. Still, Genis was fascinated by the apparel of the other boy, and even more so his pointed ears. He bit his bottom lip, doing his best not judge the blond solely because he seemed elven as well.
“I’m Genis, and you are?” he asked tentatively and crossed his arms loosely in front of him as a sort of defense before he continued. “Do you live here?”
@greatseedling
Downtrodden wasn’t a good look on anyone, especially not on lonely half-elf boys. And yet, Genis had been kicking up beach trash for a while whenever he came across anything good for letting out his frustration. It came as a surprise that one moment he was kicking an empty soda can, then watching it fly towards a person’s abdomen the next second. He would marvel at the velocity if not for his concern for the stranger’s well-being.
“Oh, drats!” the boy held his fist to his mouth to muffle his cry before making a jog that way. Since more sand was kicked up in his wake, he wanted to wait for it to settle before he looked up at the woman’s face. What he saw there caused him to step back a pace, shock evident on his paled face. “M-Martel?!”
