There was a recent news segment that ran— second night of Ramadan. About a neighborhood (Los gatos?) in Cali complaining about a mosque in their area. Because of nightly traffic for prayers or something. Def bigoted undertones there (the Christmas light traffic seems fine).

But what struck me is the videos on TikTok talking about it— millions of views. 50k-150k likes, from what I’ve seen. Pretty decent comment sections—- very supportive. A few bigots who get shouted down by the vast majority.

and just. Like. That’s nice! That’s good. As it should be. But…we didn’t even get that when there was a mass slaughter of Jews in Australia? We kept getting yelled at for “making it about Jews” and the gunmen were secretly IDF and how this was obviously bad—but *israel* is obviously at fault.

I don’t even know if I have a better point than “I’m tired”.
