when the two halves of Germany decided to unify, the FRG stripped the East of public assets, in violation of the constitutions of both East and West. the majority of wealth in the East had been held in common and administered by the state, and the initial plan would have divided it up amongst the people, giving each around 40,000 Deutsch Marks. instead, the Federal Republic sold off the East's enterprises on the cheap and lost money doing so
to make matters worse, the West forced through a currency union on terrible terms for the East. overnight, exports from the East rose in price by 400-500 percent and bankrupted major industries. 39 percent of the DDR's GDP had come from exports

was doing a first aid course and it kept talking about how when applying first aid to a child you have to ask the PARENT for consent and how the child's consent is not enough unless you cannot reach the parent. and then immediately after there was a unit on shaken baby syndrome, and then mentioned abuse as a common source of children getting injured. and they didn't see the irony there. i later asked the instructor what to do about parental consent if the medical emergency was from the parent abusing the child and she was like "you still need to obtain parental consent. you can report the abuse though" not even acknowledging how fucked the whole system is. i hate it here. youth rights now

eugenics runs on bioessentialism. saying all white people have inborn evil does in fact belong here because even though in practice eugenics never targeted white people on the basis of race, the spirit is there when people say things like this

The actor and musician faces allegations from 10 women in total who say he mistreated them as teenagers.
Four women have accused Oscar-winning actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto of criminal sexual conduct, with the alleged offences having taken place when they were teenagers.
In total, 10 women have spoken to the BBC documentary - Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret - with nine of them sharing their stories publicly for the first time.
All the women say they encountered Leto between 2002 and 2016, when he was in his 30s and 40s. He is now 54.
"This was 25 years ago… he has gotten away with it," says one of his alleged victims.
The BBC has corroborated a number of the women's accounts with friends and family who were told about the encounters with Leto at the time. In some cases, we have also seen pictures and messages that support the women's accounts.

like during international working women's day, i never saw any ig posts about it from leftist men, and when a woman creator called them out, there was radio silence.
