emphasizing how you are a WOMAN and how this is something WOMEN experience and MEN (even men who are known to be profoundly shaped by being classed as women and having bodies perceived as female) need to SHUT UP about it reflects a need for the discussion of misogyny to centered around you and your experiences and getting to have a voice amongst voices like yours. if it makes you uncomfortable that discussions of misogyny aren't only and exclusively about the kind of misogyny you and others like you (however that is being conceived), that in fact other people's experiences with misogyny may reveal layers to misogyny that you are not perfectly affected by - perhaps the problem is located more in internalized cissexism and racism and classism etc. you need to realize that talking about transmisogyny or misogynoir doesn't make your feminism intersectional when you fundamentally do not think intersectionally and act with hostility towards intersectional feminism that causes you discomfort.

its patently absurd to act like trans men (or trans women, and nonbinary people) aren't immensely victimized by misogyny, or that being trans does not invite even more aggressive forms of misogyny. trans men and trans women and nonbinary/genderqueer/gnc people talking about how they are affected by misogyny does not hurt you and we are also not fucking peripheral to how misogyny functions. if you don't include trans people in your discussion of misogyny its gonna be dogshit.

I think most people, even within the queer community, fail to recognize trans men as an entity in itself. You're either trans or a man.

The idea that someone can be fully and wholly a man and still not be afforded the privileges given to cis men is foreign to most. The identity of "man" is synonymous with privilege and power, so when trans men say "hey I'm not as privileged as you think I am, there's more to it" that's unbelievable to most. They think we're purposely misgendering ourselves to gain imaginary oppression points. They compare us to cis men who refuse to acknowledge the privileges they do have because there's no such thing as a man that isn't privileged.

Its upsetting because it puts us in a bind. Either we suck it up and take the very real oppression we face head on and keep it to ourselves, or we advocate for ourselves and face ridicule for implying we aren't privileged or we're outright misgendered.

I see where you are coming from and that is probably true for trans men who feel that passing 100% as a cis man is their goal. I want to share my personal experience and say that I’ve felt so much more dysphoria every time I have tried to pass as a cis man because that doesn’t really align with my personal preferred gender presentation/expression nor does it align with how I’d prefer people see me. Granted I’m more nonbinary/GNC in my experience and performance of masculinity than some but I thought it bore mentioning that “stealth cis guy passing” is not the end goal for a lot of trans guys, and I think more of us would play with gender especially if we could guarantee personal safety and being gendered correctly while doing it. (And yeah I’m not even touching the whole closeted trans guys have afab privilege thing that’s just clown shit)

The idea of calling oppression "misdirected", when it's not hurting its usual target, is useless and rude.

Imagine someone talking about the time someone yelled a slur at their face and someone tells them "Yeah okay, but it was misdirected, it wasn't meant to hurt you!" well, it did! It did hurt someone!

The idea that queerphobes have very organized slurs and insults and stereotypes for each queer label is laughable.

That's also why I think we need to stop saying "Queerphobes want [label] to conform to this stereotype!" because it's never true. Every single stereotype and insult can be thrown at any label.

And then some people in the queer community get the idea that the people who use a certain label aren't doing it well enough, because "That's what cishet people want us to be! It's not radical!"

For example, I've seen people say cishet people want trans men to be masculine, because at least it fits the gender binary. But I've also seen people say cishet people want trans men to be feminine, so they don't have to question their masculinity.

And you need to get it through your head that cishet people only want us gone. They don't care how much we conform or non-threatening we can be.

But also? If a trans man got attacked because someone thought he was a trans woman, that still wouldn't be "misdirected transmisogyny", it would be transmisogyny, period.

I do consider myself somewhat ""blackpilled"" in regards to FTM oppression.

Once you really look into it you realize just how much is written in our blood.

"If trans men are so important where were they at Stonewall?" Across the street locked away in an over crowded, rat infested prison. Thats where we fucking were.

Looking into The Womens House of Detention, located directly across the street from the Stonewall Inn was really the final nail in the coffin for me.

Its 12 story maximum security torture asylum, its estimated 75% or more of the THOUSANDS of prisoners kept there where WLW or transmasc. Gender non-conforming women and "women" where the main targets. You could be thrown in here for: walking alone at nightz wesring pants, being poor, "imporper feminity" and prostitution (which trans men and butch lesbains have a very expensive history with, I'd argue as expansive and soul destroying as trans women and twink history with it. However ours is heavily covered up. There where times in history the association between gender non-conformity and prostitution was so stronge a "women" presenting masculine was considered a flag for it.)

It was open from 1929-1974. Meaning it opened BEFORE any of my grandparents where born and didn't close until both my parents where well into being children. It is extremely recent.

During the Stonewall Rebellion the lesbains and trans men imprisoned there threw whatever they could at the cops, they lit stuff on fire, they screamed, they did all they could from their cells to aid in the fight against the police knowing it was certain to make their stay in Hell longer and far more brutal.

This prison was also a well known issue at the time, queer locals (Gay men, trans women and the lesbains and transmascs who managed to avoid arrest) where trying to get it shut down. You could hear the screams coming from withen just walking by it.

How fucking dare you all forgot these people. How fucking dare you act like our historical absences is because we abandon our community. By denying our oppression and ignoring our contributions you are not only spitting in the face of us. You are spitting in the face of every single queer elder who tried to fight for us. You are spitting in the face of every trans women elder. You are spitting in the face of the queer historical figures you pretend to respect.
