Genre smiled at Mason. "You're welcome. I'm glad i was able to help." She listened to him mention his house. "But you still don’t have to say goodbye. I wasn’t given a choice to say goodbye so I didn’t. I just altered my life a little to match what’s in my heart. Just because you’re forced to lose your house doesn’t mean you’re forced to say goodbye.”

Sleepover Fun

Genre had texted Romeo her address as the twins set up what they wanted, they were very excited since they seldom let people visit that weren’t family or couldn’t be considered family. The house was decorated with family pictures including Genre and Justin from when they were in high school thanks to the twins. On the center of her mantle were two ultrasound pictures of her son with a picture Justin horribly drew between them. As Genre watched her twins run around gathering things for Romeo, she debated on taking the pictures down, but she knew the twins wouldn’t like that. 

As the twins got in the giant blanket fort they made, they put down their sleeping bags along with Genre’s making sure there was enough room for Romeo’s. Placing down some snacks, Genre smiled as her kids sat behind the baby grand piano in the corner of the room. “Romeo should be here soon.” She said knowing the twins still had to quickly clean their rooms. Soon the living room was set to host the perfect sleepover, there was a spinning starlight projector that filled their walls with moving constellations so they can stargaze inside. Moments later she heard a knock on the door and smiled as she opened it, seeing Romeo on the other side. “Hey, welcome to the Belleford abode.” She opened the door for him to step inside.

Mason lay on the sofa looking up at the ceiling, getting lost in his own thoughts for a moment. “ So my dads are thinking about moving to Crownsville to be closer to me, which would be great because they’d be all settled by the time Sebastian and I were ready to start a family and I have always wanted to be closer to them. But I am not sure I can say goodbye to the home I grew up in.”

"Then don't. Have your dads take pictures of the house inside and out. Maybe even a video. You'll also have the memories with you." She nodded. "You can always go back to see how things changed." She paused and looked down. "I have never been able to say goodbye so l don't think you should have to until you're ready."

“ No, they aren’t, and have you seen someone my size try to get out of one of those things? I always make everyone laugh!”

Genre laughed a bit at Mackenzie’s words. “Sorry, I imagined it. My problem is even though I’m small and seem like I’d fit on them, my knees get bruised by the time the ride is over.”

Kyle stayed there for a few seconds without saying a thing, trying to suck in all the knowledge. “Really? I mean, I believe you. I just never imagined that those things would be more useful than what they are made for,” he said with a chuckle. “I guess having a chef as a mother helps to get a better taste in food. Lucky Charms on toast with honey doesn’t sound that bad, but I’d have to try it. My mom used to make chicken tacos, and for some time in my life I refused to eat anything else.”

Genre laughed a bit at his reaction. “I had a similar reaction. My nana taught me those tricks when I was 16.” She nodded remembering her teen years. “I had chicken tacos before when my nana took us out, I think I was 10. Everyone at the restaurant was eating them with forks and knives which was tedious to me so I haven’t really had them since.”

      it was a few drinks too many, but the day was hard and she needed something to get by. now aster felt like a complete mess at the bar, her words were slurred and on top of that, she could seldom communicate with others without breaking out into laughter here and there. the blonde was sat down, rambling on to herself until the bartender had enough of her nonsense. “life’s just too fuckin’ hard sometimes and people put up so many expectations, not even the ones you know most of time. it’s such bullshit and all an act, and yeah, i don’t need to keep it up but the last thing i need is more people on my back.” her arm swung from side to side, her cup filled up to rim with jack and coke before spilling some on herself. “oh… no,” she pressed her lips together, trying not to snort at the situation before looking over at the person beside. “you want some? i don’t think i’m equipped for this anymore.”

Genre normally didn’t drink too often, but tonight was a special occasion. Her sister-in-law was spending the night and offered to watch them. It’s been months since she had a break so she agreed and ended up at a bar. She listened to the woman talk and understood where the woman was coming from.  “Fuck everyone else. Fuck their expectations. Tell them to go shove it up their ass.” She agreed and finished off her fourth drink, ordering another for herself. After finishing a shot, Genre turned to the other and immediately handed her a napkin. “Sure, I’ll finish it for you.” She knew she wouldn’t be drinking too much more, she wanted to be able to at least walk to her couch when she got home.

“That probably explains why we haven’t met, I’ve got epilepsy, so I’m not allowed to drive,  so I have to pay someone to drive me back and forth from Crowsville to this museum every day, but it’s worth it, I love this place.  Gyda does drive though, so that’s probably how we ended up here, it’s nice to meet you officially.  They look like they’re having a blast, which is great, that’s what we were going for, we’ve had a lot fun planning this wedding and we want everyone to have as much fun as possible, it’s a good day, I’m glad you guys were able to come.”

“Don’t ride on the back of a motorcycle either. My fiancée had been told he couldn’t drive anymore due to other reasons, he asked me to give him a ride on the back of my bike and fell asleep. It was scary and I couldn’t exactly pull over to wake him either.” She knew hit wasn’t a good feeling to have someone fall asleep on the back of her bike. “This place is gorgeous, I can see why you love it so much. They are, it was their idea to come. I was afraid of bringing them to be honest, they’re antisocial in school. Seeing them having this much fun is so worth it. Thank you again for the invite, everything is so amazing.”

“And are you willing to share those tricks with me?” he asked, a small smile playing on his lips. “Thanks for the help,” he added as he grabbed some of the Lucky Charms boxes and began placing them where they belonged. “I have the taste bud of a child, so I could help you with that. I can share some recipes my mom used to make when I refused to eat.”

“Vinegar will help with sticky things. Coke gets stains out from clothes plus you can drink it after. Toothpaste helps get grease off of pots and pans, it’s also great to make your coffee pot look new.” She gave him a few of her tricks. “No problem, I like helping when I can anyway. “That would be perfect, they’re my first and thanks to my mom being a chef I have a refined pallet. My mom once told me used to make me Lucky charms on toast with honey when I was little and refused to eat. I made it for my twins and they spit it out and asked if my mom was trying to kill me.”

zeke was frustrated he had been so caught up in all the work he had been grading and had spent so much time wrapped up on the work that he hadn’t even noticed it was now the last day of we weekend.  he sat in the small cafe; and finally shut his folder to the papers he was grading. he didn’t want to put anymore time into any of them he needed a small break. he had thought about getting up and just heading home but he saw a familiar face on the other end. he lifted his hand and gave them a small smile and wave, waving them over to his table.

Genre had finished adding some updated parts to her Harley such as a new belt and transmission so she decided to go for a ride. Tucking her hair inside her helmet, she climbed on her bike and started the ignition. The ride was as smooth as she expected, she loved the feeling of riding. It didn’t take long for her stomach to start to growl and she parked in front of the cafe, taking her helmet off as she went inside. Minutes later she saw Zeke waving to her and walked over to him. “Hey, stranger.”

 I will try to come on today and tomorrow, I just found out a co-worker I looked up to and always looked forward to working with passed away today. Going back to my normal work location Tuesday may take a slightly small toll on me so I may not be on then. 

Currently I’m trying to message people that knew him and having slight difficulty with it. Too afraid to post it on my Facebook since it’s Mother’s Day

“Yeah,” he agreed, letting out a nervous chuckle. “It also would be a mess, one I’d have to clean.” In the week he’d been working here, he had learned so many things but one of those was not how to mop the floor, at least in a decent way. “Are you okay? I mean, can I help you find something?”

“I’d actually help with that. I know some tricks to make it easier that most places don’t teach.” She assured, she wasn’t really in a big rush and started to stack up some of the fallen boxes. “I’m ok. Not unless you have dinner ideas two six year olds will enjoy.”

“that’s what life is about.” the male hummed with a fond smile. he watched the brunette with a raised brow, gnawing on his bottom lip as she explained how her life usually works. with a nod, he looked at her number on his phone with a bigger smile, “sounds good. you seem to have gotten lucky with parenthood. the stories i’ve heard of kids in my past doesn’t seem as serene as yours does but i will definitely use your number to be in touch about that sleepover.” he nodded before placing his hand on his step-brother’s car.

“Somewhat lucky. There were times where Shane bit me, Shana hit me with my own sunglasses when she was about 3. I can’t recall how many messes they made, how many times I had to fix my Harley because they knocked it over. There were also times they decided my bike needed a makeover. Potty training wasn’t easy either, Shane missed the toilet completely a few times and kept quite or he blamed Shana. They aren’t totally angels, but they’re not demons either. I just like to focus on the good and remain as positive as possible.” She assured. “Definitely text, the twins would be thrilled.” She smiled and felt something hit her foot, only to bend down and pick up a set of keys and hear the back door close. “Time to play figure out that is wrong with the Bentley and try to fix it.” She sighed. “Or hold it for ransom.” She joked a bit, though she knew she wouldn’t do that. “I’ll hold you to it then.”

Genre’s first heartbreak was Justin. They met in high school it was her first time going to a co-ed school, her parents always wanted the best for her. The first time she saw Justin was when he was gripping another boy by his collar and holding him up against a wall. He was perceived as a bully so she avoided him, bu that changed when he started to peruse her, leaving notes and pictures in her locker, in which she’d always respond leaving her note to him tapped outside of her locker. 

The two hit it off and became an item, they went through ups and downs including a breakup, but got back together when Justin got sick. Genre couldn’t bare to lose him so she did everything she could to make him happy. Her efforts failed when she one day got a video call answering it only to see Justin with an oxygen mask on as doctors worked to get his heart beating again. It worked, Justin smiled at her and even spoke a sentence, one she will never forget. Then his eyes closed, never to be open again.
