I present to you 50ish Huckleberry for all you age swap lovers. Go nuts.
Dennis starts going gray early, which he was expecting, so it’s not a surprise to him
His father went gray in his late twenties, and his brothers started going gray in their late twenties and early thirties. All the men in his family go gray, genetics and whatnot
While he’s not surprised, Jack and Robby definitely are
The two have been married for such a long time and have gotten to witness each other going gray, getting wrinkles, and starting to make old man sounds when they get out of bed. They view it as such an intimate and loving act that they’ve been together so long that they’ve seen the process of the grays growing in and time passing by
Growing old together is such a blessing
Since they’re significantly older than Dennis, they sort of expected to never be able to live long enough to see Dennis get gray hair like them
It was disappointing to think about it, yes, but they were just thankful to be able to love him no matter what. They didn't need to see him grow old; they just needed to be there and love him with everything that they had
When he starts going gray, the two almost weep from sheer joy
Not only does he look exceptionally sexy, but now they’re matching. The two mention it any time they're given the chance, running their fingers through Dennis's hair and pressing kisses to his temple just to show their appreciation
This is Hucklerabbot.
No questions at this time pls thank u

behind every problematic age gap yuri there's an even more problematic, bigger age gap yaoi
Pope figuring something out so that Dennis moves to Pittsburgh to live w his cousin or older brother Jack while he’s in prison, makes sure to send him off before his time starts as well, having an airport farewell for what, they assume will be, the next six years.
But Dennis doesn’t trust any of the Cody’s, doesn’t trust anyone really, except Andrew. And Andrew has a bit of a blindspot when it comes to family. So, he lands in Pittsburgh, but never arrives at Jacks. He doesn’t want to get burned.
He survives with what he has and what he can steal. Jack and Andrew both wonder what happened to him. Dennis plans to wait out the six years, hopefully by then he’ll be a resident and able to fly back to Oceanside, back to Andrew.
His plans going well until he starts his rotation in the Pitt. The day had been shitty all around, but then a mass shooting happens and is brought face to face with the spitting image of Andrew. It can only be Jack.
He plans on hiding from him, and he believes he managed to, what with the chaos of the day. He was convinced Jack had no idea who he was until the older man appeared on the 8th floor, scaring the shit out of him, before simply stating, “Pope’s been worried sick about you, yknow.”
@frickle-frackle-paddywackle THIS
Dennis manages to sneak 5 minutes around 3:30AM. He slinks out and gets far enough from the ambulance bay that he can lean against a darkened wall and light his guilty cigarette, taking a single quiet moment to himself on a rare night shift. The lighter sparks and a flame blossoms in the dark, temporarily blinding him to anything but the tip of his cig, which is why he doesn't notice the man stumbling into his periphery.
From one moment to the next, a heavy body smelling of leather and blood and gasoline has him pressed up against the bricks behind him, and the unmistakable shape of the nozzle of a gun is pressed up under his chin.
"Sshh," comes the immediate command, on a heavy, strained breath. "Easy. Don't make noise, and nothin' bad'll happen. Okay?"
Dennis tries to breathe around his hammering fucking heart and the cigarette still clamped between his lips. He manages a single nod.
"Good," the man grunts, low and pained, clearly fucking exhausted. "I just need- I need to speak to-"
The man trails off, and in the dim light Dennis can make out curls and frankly lethal cheekbones, and blood. And as terrified as he is, Dennis is still a doctor.
"Sir, you're clearly hurt-" he tries around the cigarette, not daring to do anything with his hands but keep them raised, pressed back against the wall as well. But the man grunts, shakes his head a little. Something about his backlit profile is making bells go off loudly in the back of Dennis mind but he doesn't have time to listen right now.
"Shut up," the man grunts. "I need- Fuck."
He sighs heavily and plucks the cigarette from between Dennis lips and takes a deep drag. The tip of it flares in the darkness, and for just a moment Dennis can make out his face. The cognitive dissonance almost makes him dizzy.
"Does Jack Abbot still work here?" the man says, sullenly, like he doesn't actually want to know.
Dennis can feel how wide his own eyes are, but he can't stop staring for the life of him. A man is threatening him at gunpoint and asking for information about one of his colleagues and Dennis probably definitely shouldn't fucking answer him, but the man is swaying a little. He looks like he hasn't slept for days, and he looks like he needs urgent medical care, and he looks almost exactly like-
"Yeah. Yeah, Dr Abbot works here. He's- uh, he's working tonight. He's inside."
The man pulls back. He sticks his gun down the back of his ruined jeans and leans - collapses a little, with a grunt - against the wall next to Dennis.
"Go. Tell him Pope's outside."
Genuinely one of my faves, patiently waiting for Ch 7
Dennis hears someone call Pope an attack dog and finds it funny because if Andrew is a dog, he's a guard dog for sure. Andrew's so similar to the big old hound that they had on the farm to keep the coyotes out, especially with the way he stares people down. And whilst he forgets about it pretty quickly, he starts noticing people keep saying similar things; comments about calling off his dog, Andrew's brothers joking that he bites, people asking who's holding Popes leash - and importantly, he notices slight grimaces on Andrew's face, the subtle flinches, the blank expressions.
queue Dennis causally bringing up the farm when he's lying on the sofa with Andrew, and how he might not miss much, but he does miss the animals, especially Bessie, the big old guard dog they used to have. And he mentions how soft she was with the calves and the kids, keeping a close eye on them when they strayed, and how ferocious she was when the coyotes came sniffing round; how she'd come back covered in blood, and he'd cried for hours the first time till his ma explained that she'd been protecting the farm and keeping the danger away.
Andrews reaaal quiet during the whole thing, but he makes the softest little noise when Dennis gives him a soft kiss and says, "reminds me of you, baby, keeping us all safe."
I was born in the right time. I love archive of our own and toxic old man yaoi
*gently takes your face in my hands* hey. remember that fandom is for fun. if you're not having fun it is ok to step back. if you're intentionally making it unfun for others it is ok to step back. none of this is real. go sit in the sun and smell a flower. i love you.
