White bliss of Santorini.
Villa Cardo in Carovigno, Puglia.
Villa Cardo was built using traditional techniques and local materials in order to ensure the Pugliese vernacular shines through, keeping the building light, airy and cool in the summer. Studio Trotter integrated local materials and traditional elements into the design, such as a local sandstone called Tufo that has a high thermal mass, vaulted ceilings and cut-outs in the facades.
“We wanted to keep the house simple like the old local buildings, white cubes that have a feeling of the past, to fit beautifully in between the olive trees” -Andrew Trotter, founder of the studio.
