bucky waits up until you get home just to make sure you get home safe, when you walk through the door he can finally breath again. he wraps you in his arms whispering sweet words into your ear, "I've missed you baby." "my sweet girl, my beautiful love."
every morning he's already awake smiling down at you when you open your eyes, he caresses your cheek, those big blue eyes shining down at you. "morning angel." he says as he kisses you softly like you had all the time in the world, maybe you did.
he knows you better than you know yourself, how to take your drink, your favorite snack so whenever you get your period he's already making sure you have everything in stock, pads, food, whatever it is you need then he makes sure he's always ready to hold you (only if that's what you want)
whenever you start a new show he pretends he isn't interested when secretly he's actually taking it all in! the plot, the character whose been killed, whose his favorite and you don't realize how much he likes it until he gets home and is physically offended that you've been watching it without him. "I cant believe you've done this to me?" he says as he backs away from your touch making you giggle, "its just a show baby." you say as you wrap your arms around his neck trying to kiss him, he dodges,"its our show doll and you've betrayed me." he spends the next hour pouting until he can't anymore.
let me know if y'all want more! I enjoy making these a lot :)
having a marvel marathon before doomsday is crazy cause now I'm about to watch the x-men movies knowing there is no correct way to watch them for them to make sense... they don't make sense in any order....
summary: you have been in love with Bucky for as long as you can remember. hes all you've ever dreamed of. he's been your best friend since he joined the avengers. he finally brings another girl home and how does that make you feel?
warnings: none
notes: im very new to this so bare with me guys, I just write how I feel, what comes to mind and hope it works out in the end. thank you also doing part two... maybe.
you and bucky have been friends since he got back from wakanda. you were the first person who made him feel human again, with that being said.... you two were always together. two peas in a pod most said.
you didn't realize when you fell in love with him until it was too late, now you say there holding your feelings whilst he went on dates with different girls. its not that you weren't happy for him of course you were happy for him, all you ever wanted was for him to be happy (even if it wasn't with you.)
but did it make you feel like shit?
of course it did.
he's your achilles heel. the percy to your annabeth.
you were currently finishing up training, heading to your room to shower when he stops you, "hey doll! wait up!" you were always weak for him so you stopped and turned, "hey buck what's up?" he was smiling like he won the lottery, you knew what this meant, a date gone too well and you? you were about to be friend zoned once again.
he gave you that smile that reached his eyes, "you remember Maria< the girl from the bar that one night?" you nod. "we're on our 3rd date and I think shes actually gonna want to move further with whatever kind of relationship this is!" you smiled at him, you always did. "I'm so happy for you buck, you seem to really like her so I'm glad its working out."
maybe it was the way you spoke, or the way your smile didn't make you eyes crinkle but he knew something was off. he always did. "you okay baby doll?"
that made you wanna smash your head into a wall, the pet names? the smile? the fucking smile? yeah you were gonna die.
"I'm just tired after training with nat, what time is your date?" you ask entering your bedroom, he followed behind. "9pm, do you think I should get flowers oh and I need your help picking what to wear, I know I've gone on a date with her before but I want this to be perfect." you turn and see he has his glove on his metal arm, "do you wear that on the dates?" nod. "does she know you have a metal arm?"
he froze raising an eyebrow, "why does it matter?"
"it matters because it's part of who you are, I mean you cant hide from her forever, I mean you plan on actually being with her right?" he didn't say anything. "look I know it's not my business" he cut you off instantly. "you're right it's not your business."
you sigh and sit down, to be honest you were sick of hearing about maria, every time he came back from a date it was maria this, maria that and yes you know part if being his best friend meant you had to hear about this kind of thing but it killed you a little more inside every time. for once you wanted it to be you he talked about like that, would you ever tell him that and risk possibly losing the only person you genuinely care about? hell no.
"I'm not trying to tell you- buck I'm just saying if its getting serious she deserves to know and you deserve to know if shes gonna accept you from you, even the metal arm part of you."
he didn't want to hear anymore of it and left slamming the door.
bucky stormed out, he made his way to his room, he was angry not at you but at how right you were. he knew he should tell Maria about his arm but that terrified him more than anything. what if she was scared of him? what if she was disgusted in him? he wore the glove because it hid the part of him that made everyone either pity him or hate him. the only person you ever understood him was you, he wore his metal around you everyday, he never had to hide it with you.
little did you know, bucky was madly in love with you. he saw you and the rain went away. you were the sun that shined through any storm. he never told you because how could anyone love him like that?
he sat on his bed for 20 minutes just thinking, mainly about you, at how your smile didn't reach your eyes when he spoke about the date, how you were right about the arm and you were just looking out for him, at how he spoke to you but more about the date he would be going on. should he wear a glove and hide it? he shook his head and let out a groan and he laid down.
this date was going to be a nightmare and the main problem wasn't even his arm now it was because now his thoughts were only about you.

through it all, how could you cry for me? - bucky barnes x female!reader
So shut your eyes
Kiss me goodbye
And sleep
- sleep by my chemical romance
Plot: After all the things he's done, Bucky doesn't feel like he deserves reader's love or kindness. So, he prepares to say goodbye.
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female!Reader
Warnings: This fic is like full angst. It includes: Bucky hating himself and wishing he died in the fall, his trauma, his nightmares, his past as the Winter Soldier, a small mention of blood, and a panic attack - it's not explicitly named as one, but it definitely is. The song 'Sleep' also includes Gerard talking about night terrors he had, so if that could be a trigger, please be aware! As always, if I miss any triggers, please let me know.
Notes: Can you tell I saw Long Live the Black Parade (twice btw!!!) not too long ago? Seriously though, it was absolutely incredible, and my head has been full of MCR inspired fics since.
“Bucky, you look exhausted.” Bucky chuckles softly, raising a brow at his girlfriend, who’s snuggled under a ton of blankets and pillows and is clearly fighting a losing battle to keep her eyes open.
“I think you’re the exhausted one here, sweetheart. Why don’t you go to bed?” he prompts, turning off the movie they were watching and walking over to her.
Or…the movie that Bucky was barely paying attention to, too consumed by his own thoughts. He’s been like that a lot these past few weeks. Drowning in his guilt and hatred, caused by his time as the Winter Soldier. He kneels down, gently and tenderly cupping Y/N’s face in his hand. Y/N smiles, snuggling into his palm and gazing up at him with so much love and affection that it shatters Bucky’s heart all over again. She loves him so much, and has done so much good for him. He’s lost count of the number of times she’s stayed up all night, holding him as he sobbed, comforting him after yet another nightmare, or just sat with him in the quiet, there if he needed anything. He loves her so much and doesn’t know what he ever did to deserve her. But lately, Bucky has been feeling like he doesn’t deserve her. Or any of it. No kindness, no softness, no love. Perhaps someone as broken as him can never be repaired.
After all, with all the blood on his hands, why does he get to live happily with the love of his life after all the hurt and pain he caused?
“Promise me,” she pleads, placing her hand over his and giving it a squeeze. “I couldn’t bear it if anything happened to you.” There she goes again, caring more about him than herself. That makes Bucky feel even worse.
Why didn’t he just die in that damn fall? That would’ve made things so much easier. He wouldn’t have all this trauma, and Y/N wouldn’t have to deal with him and all his issues. But then, he feels even worse. He’s had some wonderful times with her, and for the first time in a long time, Bucky has finally felt at peace. She's undeniably the best person who has ever come into his life.
But his peace was short-lived, and soon his ugly thoughts reared their heads again. And soon, the whispers of doubt took root in his mind, making him believe their words. Telling him that if she truly knew what he was capable of, and of all the ugly things he’s done, she’d never want to see him again, or think of him so highly.
He’s not a hero. He’s a monster.
And so, he's saying goodbye. Not for too long. He simply needs some quiet time to himself so he can sort through his problems. He’ll text her early in the morning, saying he got called away on an urgent solo mission with little time to prepare. It’s not entirely unbelievable - it’s happened before. And she’ll believe him. She always does. After all, what reason would he have to lie to her? She would never have imagined Bucky was capable of the harm he was about to inflict. But Bucky doesn’t even feel surprised he can inflict that pain.
Because that’s all he does. Cause pain.
Y/N stands up, her fingers still intertwined with his. “Come on, let’s go to bed.” She moans. “You need to sleep. They're working you too hard.” She shakes her head as they walk up the stairs, his arm holding her close for the last time in god knows how long. Bucky chuckles softly, shaking his head.
“I’ll be sure to tell them that.”
In their bedroom, she snuggles under the covers, her tired eyes focused on Bucky. He lingers by the door, looking at all the pictures of them both covering the walls. A knot of unease tightens in his stomach.
Does he really want to abandon all this? He’s not so sure anymore. There’s a picture of him and Steve too, with the other Howling Commandos, smiling and laughing. Y/N insisted they put it up, so that Bucky has a connection to his past, to who he really was - a soldier and a hero, rather than just a weapon. However, by the time those pictures were taken, Bucky was already well on his way to becoming the villain, his descent into darkness far deeper than anyone suspected.
“Aren’t you coming to bed?” she asks, her voice tinged with disappointment.
“In a minute.” He can’t even think straight, his heart pounding against his ribs. Perhaps this was a mistake. Maybe he should stay; just tell her or the others the truth about how he’s feeling, instead of running. Oh god, he can’t do this. His legs feel like lead, his throat tightens, and his lungs burn with each breath.
“Bucky?” She sits up, concerned now. “Are you okay?”
He swallows hard, nodding. “Y-Yeah.” he stammers. “Of course.” He lays on the bed beside her, kissing her forehead and pouring every ounce of love that he could into it. “Just... thinking.” Luckily, she seems to believe him for now, laying back down with him.
"You know I worry about you," she says, her voice full of concern.
“I do,” he replies, a slight smile gracing his lips. “But you don’t have to do that.” She smiles over at him, squeezing his hand.
“I do. Because I love you.” She whispers.
“I love you too. So, so much.” Bucky whispers back, pulling her closer and holding her as tightly as he can. His heart aches and he doesn’t want to let her go, but deep down, he knows he has to.
“Goodnight, Bucky.” she says, her lips brushing against his in a soft peck, not knowing that it would be the last kiss she’d ever give him for a while.
“Night, Y/N.”
“You’ll be here when I wake up?” she asks, a hopeful note in her tone.
“…Yeah.”
“Bucky.” She gives a weary shake of her head, almost asleep by this point. “Promise me. Please.”
I can’t. He thinks. So, he simply nods, and whispers: "Just go to sleep, darlin'." That seems to be enough for Y/N, and Bucky soon feels her go still against him, fast asleep. He kisses the top of her head again, sniffling.
“I’m sorry,” he whispers. “Even if I'm gone for a while, I will always come back to you. I promise.”
