I wanted him to recognize her trauma, because it’s very easy to forget - when you see a character like Ciri and you think, ‘She’s been through trauma,’ and it’s really terrible - but we also forget that Geralt’s been through trauma. He was younger than her and being filled with magical chemicals and herbs, and screaming until he almost died, and kids are dying around him… Then he went out into the world, and the world hated him. So he's also experienced trauma. From someone who’s gone through that, he’s going to have that sense of patience with her... She’s been through a lot; she’s going to lash out from time to time. i propose that the reason ciri is dressed so nicely in the trailer is that geralt took one look at her and went “oh fuck she’s a princess right? what do princesses wear, dresses??” and then went out and bought her just the most opulent expensive thing he could afford

and maybe he did it because she’s been through so much and even though he can’t give her cintra back, he can make her feel a little more like home
