âSomewhere inside all of us is the power to change the world.â

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) confronted a CEO Thursday for pricing a drug designed to reduce the risk of HIV transmission at $8 in Australia but over $1,500 in the U.S.
âYouâre the CEO of Gilead. Is it true that Gilead made $3 billion in profits from Truvada in 2018?â Ocasio-Cortez asked Gilead CEO Daniel O'Day.
â$3 billion in revenue,â he clarified.
The current list price is $2,000 a month in the United States, correct?â she asked, referring to Truvada.
âItâs $1,780 in the United States,â O'Day responded.
âWhy is it $8 in Australia?â Ocasio-Cortez countered.
âTruvada still has patent protection in the United States and in the rest of the world it is generic,â O'Day explained, adding, âIt will be generically available in the United States as of September 2020.â
âI think itâs important here that we notice that we the public, we the people, developed this drug. We paid for this drug, we lead and developed all the patents to create Prep and then that patent has been privatized despite the fact that the patent is owned by the public, who refused to enforce it,â Ocasio-Cortez said.
âThereâs no reason this should be $2,000 a month. People are dying because of it and thereâs no enforceable reason for it.â

Latino Tumblr reblog this so we can find each other.

You know what sucks the mostâŚ
âŚabout Tumblr removing adult content? Itâs that this place was more than just about porn. Its where I gained my first semblance of confidence. Itâs where i found that people appreciated guys like me. I wasnât just the ugly fat guy that I felt I was. People liked me for who I am and how I looked and slowly I started to believe the possitive things people said about me. I was lucky enough to experience that, and so Iâll personaly be fine. But the idea that someone who has no self worth or self esteem canât come here to experience that same sense of pure acceptance for who they are just doesnât seem fair to me, because I honestly donât know what I would have done without this place.
Tumblr was a refuge for a lot of people. It was a means to express themselves sexually without ridicule or judgement. It helped people grow and feel good about themselves. Itâs not just about the loss of some cheap titillation for a lot of people. Itâs been way more important than that and itâs a shame theyâre willing to sacrifice all of it just because they couldnât keep a handle on their porn bot problem.
^^^^ THIS
So many people, myself included found our body confidence and body positivity through the admiration and kind words of others like us. The people all to often excluded or shunned in many aspects of life, LGBTQ+ communities, and on mainstream porn sites.
Tumblr for all its faults, and it has a lot of them, has supportive and caring communities, especially for things like body confidence, body positivity, and chub4chub. But I feel that without the full freedom to post candidly, people will feel they canât talk and express themselves openly and have no choice but to go elsewhere.
