This is actually one of the best things he has said. To use your knowledge to make headway in social issues not to call out someone because you feel that they have done something wrong. identity the problem and give a valid solution. Instead of just calling out the problem.

As you might imagine, the debate is about much more than language.

Should teachers Teach Ebonics? Really. Should teachers teach a vital language for communicating within the community. But should White people be forced to learn something that thaey will not use.

And It is benificinal for minority students because it teaches them in a way that is more relateable than standard english.

So, even though there are disadvantages to the use of Ebonics at schools, they can be remedied by changing the narrative behind Ebonics. Remember the three important points in supporting Ebonics acceptance and inclusion: first, the unique features of Ebonic need to be understood; second, Ebonics must be taught with appreciation; third, students who speak Black English must be willing to be open to other forms of communication to ensure a balance between the cultural and the worldly aspects of language.

Which is important because Black English is varied and complex. It may seen primitive and nonsensical to White English speakers but black English like many other languages have specific structures that describe something in a positive or negative ways based on the situation. improper English is used to mimic and mock AAVE but it missed a vital part that anybody can notice is the lack of information carried. AAVE can have some parts of improper Engilsh but makes no attempt to copy English structures just the word/meanings as well as AAVE words. Word meshing if you will.

Because some Boys see school as a site of effeminacy and school language (WEV)as a discourse for girls, White and Black boys resist some forms of language instruction, which, in turn causes them to fail literacy classes. But the difference between black boys and white boys, however, is that black boys not only fell coerced to give up their masculinity if they do well in school, but they also fell forced to abandon their race- the ultimate impossibility.

Black English, then is a language mixture adapted to the conditions of slavery and discrimination, a combination of language and style interwoven with and inextricable for African american culture.

It is a Good starting step but it is still is just a starting peice to understand whiteness in a classroom.

We need What LaNita Jacobs Huey has described as the native "gazing and talking back in ways that explicit interrogate the daily operation of white supremacy in our field and our campus rather than more performances of psychologically-internalized black pain for the white gaze(a practice that garners white attention and consumption, but never social change).

I am not suggesting that our students with racist attitude will not challenge their thinking somewhere down the line, but I am questioning how and why faculty of color experience such as room event s as routine and must do the bulk of the exhaustive debilitating, and non-value added work of redressing students' racial wrongs, often without any support or acknowledgements from the departments, programs, schools, or fields in which the work... we are not standing on the outside of racial violence in our discipline. we ourselves are encoding racial violence in how we constitute knowledge about people of color and how we are enacting racism with the people we hire and privilege as composition faculty.
