Wanted somewhere to post my content and thoughts relating to Squirrel & Hedgehog and to meet other people into it... I figured Tumblr was a good place to do it, simple as that. I love talking about everything relating to this show and making up theories/analyses on it in my head that I should just get out... I've been into S&H since around 2016-2017, and to me it's one of the best shows everrr. I love everything about it. Pretty much. I also like other weirdly specific niche animation, might come up idk. Do you have any analysis or at least a general idea of āāhow long Geum's mission with the weasels lasted? 1 year? 5? 10?
There's no specific amount of time but the song boy scouts mentions "years going by" and both him+Juldarami rank up quite a bit, so I'm sure it's quite a while. I remember someone saying they thought Geum could be around like 30...?
In Brave Soldiers (which should not be considered as canon whatsoever) they say it's 5 years at some point. Idk I would have to watch Brave Soldiers more and learn about military ranks before I make a more in depth post
Do you have any headcanons for the differences in appearance between Jul and Geum? Who's taller, thinner or more muscular, or who has more scars, tattoos and so on?

Who's taller: Juldarami, by a couple of inches-I tend to imagine the Flower Hill guys in general as pretty short, around 3-4 ft tall.
Who's thinner or more muscular: Geumsaegi used to be a bit pudgier than Juld but lost a lot of weight due to multiple things that happened to him in canon, Juldarami keeps himself fit and has more muscle than Geum, definitely, but they both have muscle.
Who has more scars: Definitely Juldarami because he tends to get into physical danger more, especially on his arms and shoulders-I'm sure wounds from the times he's gotten shot in the arms are still there. Geum however has quite a lot of healed burn wounds from the explosion in episode 16. They both give me the vibe of nervously picking at their fur sometimes, too. Not sure who moreso for dat..
Who has tattoos: n/a! I think they'd think it makes them look too deviant (but Juld would definitely look good with some)
For other physical traits, I believe their fur has definitely lightened over time due to age+stress which I think I talked about here for Geum and that Juld has sharper nails than Geum, along with sharper teeth. I usually give Juld darker eyes than Geum but I forget the reason, and I think his eyes are moreso ^_^ than Geum's o_o eyes which I dove into in this post. I used to give Geum green eyes in my art because I missaw them but I believe his nowadays are just a lighter brown than Juld's.
I wouldnāt really recommend using the English/Mondo dub as evidence that Mulmangcho & oegwipali arenāt related since that dub made like 5 main characters for no reason.

The fandom confusion of Mulmangcho, Oegwipali, and Mulsajo being related (and why they likely aren't)
This will probably be my most controversial analysis, so I apologize in advance if this changes some people's perceptions. I just want to educate people on Korean honorifics and the importance of cultural context. Anyways, let's get to the analysis-this one will be pretty short.
There is a very common idea in the fanbase that all 3 of the mice are related-this is due to them referring to eachother as brother in the English and Russian subtitles.
But what about the original Korean? If we look at that, Oegwipali refers to Mulmangcho with the following-by "hyung-i" or ķ
Hyung is a very complex word in the Korean language-but to put it simply, it can be used by any younger male referring to an older male in a respectful way or a younger male friend to a older male friend. Even couples use it for eachother! This can translate as "brother" but does NOT always make characters siblings...for example, There's another notable use of the word "hyung" in Squirrel and Hedgehog.
With Undochi and Geumsaegi! Undochi calls him "hyung" in a respectful way, and they obviously aren't related. So why does Oegwipali call Mulmangcho the word hyung?
It can be for many reasons-perhaps Oegwipali just respects Mulmangcho, and calls him as such due to him being older. Perhaps they feel a sense of comradery after the Battle of Mt. Rock (notably he didn't call him hyung until after that) perhaps it's just due to their closeness-sometimes they act just as close as Juldarami and Geumsaegi! Overrall, there are many layers to this and I don't think they should be called siblings just because of a honorific that's often used between people who ARE NOT related. Some people ship the two-and may not consider them to be brothers. For example, some South Korean analysis of SaH simply calls Oegwipali his subordinate.
What's also notable is that their Brave Soldier counterparts are not related whatsoever-but this doesn't mean much, as Mondo makes up alot of stuff anyway.

i've been thinking about this for a while, and I think I FINALLY have the right words for it. I already posted a long ramble in the SaH server so I'm just going to copypaste it over here, basically...anyways, spoilers in ADVANCE for episodes 14 and 15, and also cw for some trauma mentions, but to get into yet another of my insanely long Squirrel and Hedgehog thoughts...
Some thoughts on the possible usage of Juldarami's Sunglasses in characterization
I really like juldarami's uniform from eps 10-15, this one, very cute... but something i always think about is his sunglasses, the fact that he always has them on and puts on this tough personality when he is wearing them.
He only takes them off when he's...how do i put it, showing his true emotions ig? Like when he took them off to cry briefly over geumsaegi going on a life threatening mission in ep 12 to capture aekku, when alone and thinking about things, when geumsaegi met up with him again/after he left (latter is the most obvious example of this), when he was in company with mulori, stuff like that. In my mind, it's very intentional. He doesn't take them off otherwise...that is, until...
Episode 14, A Moment in the Enemy Rear. I'm not going to be summarizing everything here, and I haven't seen the episode in a bit, so sorry if I miss something.
Taking place basically right after Geumsaegi departed in the previous episode, Juldarami and Mulori are shown together with them talking about Geumsaegi's mission. I think it's interesting here how they show Mulori worrying about the pretty bad wound he got in the previous episode after being slammed against a tree from an explosion, following with him going "it's not that serious!" I always thought that was a cute character detail, showing how close they are through a simple scene like that. saving my rambling for probably a later Mulori and Juldarami relationship analysis though. Anyways. Mulori reminds Juldarami to be careful, reminding him to āremember that the enemies are always grinding their teeth to occupy our hillā. with Juldarami telling her not to worry, and that she should get some rest.
It is emphasized how Juldarami deeply cares for her by his actions, such as placing a blanket over her while she sleeps, and mentioning how he can't wait for her to go back to Flower Hill to be with their beloved friends.
The one where mulori gets captures by mulmangcho and oegwipali. with Juldarami thinking that itās his fault that she was captured because he left her alone...
he's incredibly stressed as he gets the troops to look for the suspicious troops in the woods, breaking composure a couple of times and later on in the episode, for her assumed death with the grenade detonating underwater and all.
When that happens, he looks like heās about to sob before putting those glasses back on (the scene notably becoming blue) and beating the shit out of aekku (being prevented from killing him then and there), and thenā¦remembering mulori saying something along the lines of āremember that the enemies are always grinding their teeth to occupy our hillā. Hes shown with those glasses off, literally sobbing in the back of the boat on the way back to the weaselās den after this, heās never shown with those sunglasses on again. Beginning of episode 15 heās talking with commander jogjebi about the mission (which now that i think about it, i donāt think heās ever shown directly talking to the commanders without those sunglasses on??memorys especially hazy on that iām probably wrong) when it comes to the headcanony stuff, i feel like juldarami was justā¦different after this happened, despite mulori later being revealed to be alive i feel like all of that happening to him just messed him up in a way. In my mind i feel like he became more anxious after that, fearful of his friends and loved ones being hurt even more than he already feared it. maybe connected to the event in episode 24 where he freaked out when he found out geumsaegi was going to be killed, going to him and iirc jsut being??so upset??and similar stuff?? ahh i. think about. these squirrels so much. Thanks to finding out the name of the film, I was able to dig up these pictures from other websites. The first is an ebay auction for the film reels (probably the same ones from that guy's private collection?) and then the other 2 provide information on the film's production in German.

thinking about Geumsaegi+Juldarami and Commander Goseumdochi+Darami parallels
commander goseum being above darami is obvious, im pretty sure darami calls him a term that means superior while commander goseum calls him a word meaning lower rank even ignoring that darami is just alot softer and more innocent than he is (which ill get back to) in some bits of dialogue, but for geum and juld i sorta headcanon geumsaegi as juldarami's mentor and older than him due to him leading the village and the fact juldarami comes off as softer than geum emotionally (he just expresses alot more than geum does and eventhough he also goes through shit he seems more innocent before geum is circa before and after scout goseumdochi's death,ā¦until the first shit happens with mulori and while he still is more softer (think of him wanting to quit the mission to help his friends at some points) he is not more innocent and unlike darami is fractured in the head and idk traumatized differently than but also like geum is differing him from how darami presents (maybe some fucked up shit also happened with darami and he processes/presents it differently)..idk i wish there was stuff talking about. the battles commander goseum and darami fought btu that is going off my tangent,.
