“You don’t smell like roses anymore,” he said, then wanted to kick himself. He shouldn’t be noticing her scent. “I probably smell like boat.” No, she smelled sweet, perfect like … “Toffee?” Her eyes slid away guiltily. “Kaz said to pack what we needed for the journey. A girl has to eat.” She reached into her pocket and drew out a bag of toffees. “Want one?” Yes. “No.” She shrugged and popped one in her mouth. Her eyes rolled back, and she sighed happily. “So good.”

romanticize: rə(ʊ)ˈmantɪsʌɪz / verb
1. deal with or describe in an idealized or unrealistic fashion; make (something) seem better or more appealing than it really is.
2. “the tendency to romanticize non-industrial societies”
it beings softly with sounds from a simpler age, opera and cold marble stone floors. slowly we swim in familiar water. yet we still look up at the sky above us and romanticize with the stars that are far older than the seas embracing us. - a mix of studying, reading & breathing

Some underrated books you should check out
Soul eater trilogy by Eliza Crewe: ok so the mc is very unique, she is malicious, she is not a good person (let’s say an anti-heroine?), I mean she does kill people and then eats their souls. Apart from that she is one of the most hilarious protagonists you will ever read about, seriously you won’t stop laughing. Also: the most important relationship in this books is not a romance!!!! (yes you heard well) is between her and her best friend, who is disabled. The worlbuilding might not sound very original, but the books are very feminist (wich is really satisfying) and don’t follow any usual cliches. (more about it here)
The queen’s thief series by Megan Turner: The story follows Gen, who is a thief, he is also a poc. I can’t go into details without giving spoilers, the best is going into this book without knowing too much about it. It’s perfect for those who like plot twists and unreliable narrators. The mythology in these books is amazing (it kind of has a greek/roman inspiration), some tales are even narrated in the books. The first book is kind of introductory and it might seem slow at first, but the next ones are amazing.
Uprooted by Naomi Novik: This is a standalone book. Perfect if you like fantasy, magic and fairytales. The world building is geat and it has some polish/russian inspiration.
The lumatere chonicles by Melina Marchetta: If you like fantasy you should definitley check out this trilogy. I mean: Amazing female characters who take no shit, Creative world building, beautiful writing, realistic and well rounded characters and relationships. The author does an exelent job transmiting emotions to the reader, I seriously cried at some points, but I also laughed. This is one of those storys that stay with you. I’ts also really diverse, it has poc and lgbt characters.
Mistborn series: This series is perfect for people who like fantasy with complex world building and magic sistems (srsly it’s so creative). It also has very well rounded and realistic characters, and realistic relationships. Did I mention mindblowing plot twists?? (more about it here)

Nocturnal Animals (2016, Tom Ford)
One of the things I love most about Mulan, that’s rarely commented on, is just how much of a sacrificial lamb she is for her family before stepping in for her father in the army. Unlike Belle and Jasmine, who are fed up with society and make no attempts to conform for the sake of anyone else, Mulan trained and went to the match maker with the honest attempt at being the best bride she could be. If the match maker chose her that day, she would have willingly sold herself into the role that being a wife entailed to appease her family, at the sake of her own happiness and comfort because that’s how much they meant to her. If she hadn’t been perpendicular to the status quo and actually fit in, she would’ve gone into the marriage set up by the matchmaker and led a life of selflessness in a role that she never would’ve chosen for herself nor enjoyed.

“They hunted in sync, Chirrut always prowling near the rebels and Baze always prowling near Chirrut. Baze did not limit his targets to those who might spot the blind man, but he kept Chirrut under observation nonetheless; where the Force would fail Chirrut, Baze would not.”
