Update on my '2013' post
I posted a .. blurb? blog? post? well whatever its called back in early January and I think I've been pretty good so far with following up with my 2013 goals. :D
2013
I’m 7 days late, but… Happy New Year!!! :-)
I can not say ‘Happy New Year’ in a serious, monotonous tone. You have to say it an octave higher and a bit louder than your usual voice. I would add a jump in there but I’m 7 days late that would be weird. Ha.
Anywho, I’ve stopped “making” resolutions a few years back because my resolutions usually last within the first 2 months and then I either get lazy and/or forget about it. This year I’ve decided to set goals for myself. Yay me! Hopefully I can commit to these goals until 2014 and maybe even further. We shall see.
1) Read at least 1 book a month. << I've already read 3 books since I posted this. Yes!!!
2) Re-learn Italian. Well, more like learn Italian. I’ve got the books and cds, but my laziness took over. << Ok, this is something I still need to work on.
3) Take more photos, update my flickr account. << I'm slowly working on this. I did update my flickr account with photos of my niece and Rock.
4) Eat more fruits. << Extremely proud of myself with this. I think I've eaten more fruit these past few weeks than I have all of last year. Apples.. check! Bananas.. check! A bag of cuties... check!
5) Cook more new food. I have about 7 dishes that I make on a rotation. I need to change it up and add more food. Time to search for recipes online. << I've made a couple of new dishes. I should take pictures next time and post them up but I'm usually so famished by the time I've finished cooking that I just gobble up my dinner.
6) Go to church more often. Since moving to Texas back in August, I’ve gone to church twice. This year I plan to attend church at least once or twice a month. << Okay, this is where I've failed. I've only gone to church once since this post. I need to change this.
Now I need to put a reminder up on my phone and somewhere in my house to remind me of my goals. Go me!
Doggy play date with Oreo, @frannybaloo. We missed you Bailey, @crismich1. Rocky enjoying the CA sun with his eyes closed. #bulldogandfriend #rockandoreo
Open a book this minute and start reading. Don’t move until you’ve reached page fifty. Until you’ve buried your thoughts in print. Cover yourself with words. Wash yourself away. Dissolve.

Afraid
There are many things that I'm afraid of. Like roaches, little spiders that join together and form a gigantic spider (I've seen it happen TWICE here in Texas!), enclosed spaces, heights, watching scary movies/shows at night, etc.. However there's one thing that I'm afraid of that I truly need to get over fast.
I'm afraid of hospitals. I think it all started when my mom was admitted to the hospital when I was a kid. After that I just tried to avoid going to the hospital as best as I can. That is until my paternal grandfather past away back in high school. I remember being told to visit him a couple of times before he passed away. I didn't want to tell anyone in my family that I was afraid of hospitals because 1) they'd say 'get over it! grandpa's about to die'; 2) I had to drive all the little ones because I was the only one that drove at that time while the adults were at the hospital; and 3) I didn't want to get in trouble especially by my dad. So I sucked it up and went however many times it was to visit my grandpa.
I don't know what it is about hospitals. I don't know if it's the smell, the patients, doctors/staff, or everything, but my heart starts beating fast. I start to sweat. My eyes are scanning everything around me. And a couple of times I get a ringing sensation in my ears. I know, weird. I've been to clinics and am just fine. I would very much go to the dentist then go see a doctor at a hospital. But now I've got to suck it up and get over it fast because I need to get a check up and see if there's anything wrong with me. Hubby and I are trying to get pregnant but I've got to see if all is well with me. And that won't happen if I keep avoiding going to the hospital. Bah!
