The reason why you do this is not out of spite or to be purposely recluse but rather as a defense mechanism. Compartmentalizing your life so that no one person can ever hurt you, but by doing this, you realize that you’re always alone and lonely deep down inside.

You do not want people to worry about you, so you put on a front and a mask. Yet the cycle begins all over again of only showing parts of yourself to others.
