The darksaber is quite different for a reason but very similar in canonical stuff. It’s considered very picky sword and chooses who it likes and who it doesn’t like. This one, though, it really particularly likes and wants to stay around this specific Mandalorian. But when Bo-Katan wields it before the blade finds a worthy user, it simply didn’t care. The blade is sharpened and will harm anyone who touches it. (Obviously, it’s a laser stick.) BUT when it returns back to its rightful owner, the blade is deemed perfected. The owner can chooses the dull blade (where the hand can just wave through the blade with no harm, this is especially useful in certain situations!!) or can run so hot it will be enough to cut through thick metal. Another special feature is it literally connected to the user. The chosen user can tell it not to turn on or be useless in someone else’s hands, making it a pretty special weapon. This represents the passive and peaceful side of the Mandalorians.
Since dragons species has been around the Mandalorians, it is mixed to a point where both species co-existed. Both species can use special abilities that no Jedi can compete with. But ever since the separatists came around, the Mandalorians becomes more defensive on their homeworld, making weapons that is compatible with their magic they learned over the centuries. Mandalore fell to the night of the thousand tears as their magic quickly vanished and draconians immediately became extremely defensive with their technology and swiftly developed technology that outclassed the separatists (which later became Imperials.) They did not join the resistance as they fear their own extinction from them but they did held their line for eons.
When Din had the darksaber for a time, it literally sang in his hands but his emotions made it a really heavy blade for him to use since Grogu wasn’t with him at the time. So, he did try to use it as a weapon. It ended up going to Bo-Katan, which when she tries to use it herself, the blade turn so black and so heavy that it was enough to tell her she is unworthy.
Bo-Katan held on to the darksaber until Din comes back since he went on his adventure with Grogu and work for the republic for a time.
With that, I think I may just randomly do short stories of Mandalorian and Grogu learning their ways. Since Mandalorian Din (I personally feel he would 100% be questioning his creed the entire time simply because of his bloodline and he looks different. Even his name reaches far into the restricted sector and had people looking for him.) is learning his separate path but Grogu is along for the ride since he wants to know more himself as well. Grogu knows he’s not a Jedi and is learning how his very special abilities works. Din knows there’s more than being just a Mandalorian but is being very hesitant to branch out from the creed.
Oh, btw, in this AU, there is magic, Jedi force and Sith force is considered a form of magic that can be found with all species. More broader magic style can be found within select few species but have their energy feeding into entirely different species can work. This method is lethal and isn’t very fond of by other draconians.
Grogu is dressed in a Jedi outfit cuz he had a growth spurt. XD He spent some time with Jedi Luke before deciding to go back to Din. His appearance looked more of a draconian than Jedi Yoda’s species. He still can’t talk and is mute. But he does understand Basic very well and picks up a few languages along the way with Din. He has considered using Tusken sign languages but having limited fingers made quite hard to communicate. But Din did eventually pick up lil cues and tone of Grogu’s sounds and his expressions. Grogu in this AU is more older (more mature??) but he is still considered a child because of his mental age and his very very slow aging. He has learned force healing and few other specific force abilities. He has learn he can also teleport short or long distances. He can control or influence the living wildlife. He also knows Din has the ability to shapeshift as he knows his human side isn’t his real form. He hasn’t yet to see his real side tho. Grogu is from a species that can do pretty much anything and everything.
While Din is limited to a few abilities, his main abilities is being able to have crystals interact with beskar he has. (I wanna doodle this to showcase that soon 👀) Shapeshifting is a Royalty ability so not many can do that. Since he has consistently remained human, it has taken a toll on his body. The resting period did become shorter between missions and staying on the move didn’t help that at all. He is limited and is constantly burnt out from using the shapeshifting ability constantly. Grogu is aware and has helped him extend his time under that helmet for him and Din didn’t know that. But since his missions brought him closer to the draconian’s homeworld, he did start to discover he could produce some wierd shiny rock things and felt more energy boosted.
Yah, I still have more info to dump but this is good! :Dc Imma be doodling some of that later on.
are shows and movies allowed to be subtle and ambiguous anymore..... is that still allowed or does everything have to be a patronizing hand holding session. just wondering
ppl on ao3 should use the "this work was inspired by" option more. so many fics out there that put links to other fics in the a/n but theres a better option.....
important addition i forgot that not everyone might know. similar to how ao3 bookmarks work, you can also link to non-ao3 fanworks using this format. so, for instance, if theres some fanart on tumblr that inspired you to write the fic? you can link that fanart to your fic!
