This is a cute request but like... this is how it is for all famous people, all the time. It’s why famous people have weird breakdowns, presumably. It’s a good reason to never enter the public spotlight

The point I’m trying to make is that someone who messages death threats and other crazy shit to people all the time isn’t gonna stop because you ask nicely. And frankly, the same goes for any behavior towards someone where it’s clear they don’t want it. The issue at hand isn’t that these famous people are doing anything wrong, but that their level of fame inevitable attracts people who don’t care and don’t understand boundaries.

If you want to see change in this department, it’s worth looking at larger systemic issues and understanding where it’s coming from and working to address the roots involved (low success chance), or by helping unwittingly famous people like Neil by compiling “so you’ve become famous and people online are weird at you now” primers and tutorials (higher success chance?). People with boundary issues will (usually) not stop having them because you asked them to, is my central point. And that’s more transparent with bigger celebrities. But it’s the same mechanisms at play, just at a smaller level.
