- warning, a bit of a long post. I normally go back in edit these but tbh I feel like shit so if it's not well thought out gimme like a week, I'll come back and rehash everything

Crazy take here, but I think omegaverse is too focused on perpetuating rape culture, instead getting bdsm about it. Lemme elaborate.

A lot of omegaverse is angst and smut. Both cnc and plain ol nc lol, whether romanticized, well written, shown in a poor light, or treated casually, is up in the air, but this does not negate the fact that it is everywhere. I am not saying whether that is bad or good that can be for a different post.

What I am saying is, submission is often used a subplot to force people into doing what you want them to do, and I feel like it isn't often shown as what I feel like it's supposed to be - a gift. Submission, from whichever gender is giving it, is supposed to be something you feel grateful for. Something you earn after a long time of knowing and loving each other.

Personally, I don't even think it should just be an omegan thing. I just don't think it makes sense ??? Idk ?? I'm still stirring it around in my head. I think I would understand if omegan submission was more romanticized bc of the perpetuating of rape culture, and bc of that omegas rarely submitting to people, even within the pack.

But I think even without that submission is just something you cherish. Like yeah, I'm trusting you to take control of myself and guide me wholly, that's a big flipping deal !!

This is also why I think it's stupid for omega characters to just be submitting willy-nilly to any alpha around. I think you would have to be pretty heavily traumatized for this to happen - like I'm talking you'd have to be completely resocialized to the common man. Bc not only is dangerous for you, but it's also unsettling for everybody else !! Like idk you like that why in the world would I wanna be completely responsible for your well-being !!!

about the female alphas! i think there would be a stereotype about them being mean bitches and there would be pressure from every side about how they're so masculine and unfeminine and not gentle at all but on yhe other hand i also think they would be very fetishized by omegas because they would be seen as better versions of male alphas kinda like butches are and they would not be treated like women but like a softer man who you would expect to give you princess treatment all the time

See when I think of female alpha stereotypes I think of - and now here me out - ED tiktok. And if you haven't ventured there DO NOT. IT IS A BAD PLACE TO BE.

Anyway, a lot of the women there talk like alphas males,,, it's really weird. They talk about micros and macros calories and weight lifting ect. But they also use like. The exact same phrases.

"what do you bring to the table for a man?" "High value women" "[insert gender essentialism here]"

And I think this type of person is the opposite/partner to the alpha male, omegaverse wise. Lemme paint a picture for you.

Cishet relationship. Alpha female, omega male. Alpha female has a "model body" tall, and thin, and lithe, pale skin, blonde hair, you know the vibes. She's known to be bitchy, a mean girl in hs, high maintenance, never happy with anything. But secretly, heart of gold, soft for only her male omega, SPECIFICALLY.

The omega. I think we all know this one. The soft submissive male omega stereotype.

I think this archetype of relationship is the average of cishet media, the partner and opposite to male alpha/female omega. The newtons law to mafia CEO and his good girl college student girlfriend. Irl it's toxic and awful, usually ends with both parties getting burned.

It teaches female alphas not to actually express their feelings, that it's okay to be mean to other women to come out on top, that all they need to be happy is a man, a man will soften them up and save them.

It teaches our male omegas that you can fix her, you're different from all those other guys bc of it, taking gambles on bad people is likely to come out in your favor, as long as you're sweet and docile you'll find a girlfriend.

Very random but a someone who generally avoids omegaverse stuff like the plague (intersex trans man of color..... Go figure) despite my general interest in its basic concept, I recently discovering misce has..... Honestly been really nice? Because I've known for forever that I'm alterhuman and have certain habits/behaviors that line up with omegaverse situations but as stated before, I avoided it due to my personal discomfort.

And of course I'm wary of the misce community, I've been barely here at all and I'm still figuring myself out, but the idea that there's a more humane (if that's the word?) version of it is very comforting. Your blog especially has been very nice to comb through. So thank you, actually!

I'm glad I can be a safe space for you. As a genderqueer person of color, I can understand how hard it is to be basically any online space, esp with our political climate rn (⁠´⁠-⁠﹏⁠-⁠`⁠；⁠). I strive to make this blog and all of my other ones a comfort for people who look, talk, and act like me.

Omegaverse and adjacent communities can be particularly uhm,,,, uncomfortable to deal with - for lack of a better word.

And thinking more about this post, what if grillz in the omegaverse became a thing bc black ppl, though specifically black alphas, were stereotyped and assumed to be more aggressive than other skin colors; so because of this, there was a time period where alphas, and some omegas and betas depending on who/what/where/when, had to wear muzzles or caps on their teeth. Or they would straight up have their teeth ripped out.

Stay with me here.

In the beginning, they weren't optional. It wasn't a fashion choice or anything. It was slave masters forcing black people to keep them from bonding with each other or fighting back, they would cause tooth decay bc they couldn't take them off, they were painful and would often cause bleeding and infections in their gums, etc.

So we fast forward a bit to the Jim Crow era. Not slaves anymore (somewhat) but not free either. Black alphas still wear tooth caps for various reasons, but mostly for safety. Example being; a white omega claiming that you forced a bite, or threatened one, and while the tooth caps didn't always stop black people from being killed, there was at least some way to have deniability. I also believe it was the times "standard". Alpha pups asking why they have to wear things on their teeth and parents saying that's just what we do.

Now we go a little bit further, to the 90s. Black families now have these as heirlooms, kids grew up seeing their parents and grandparents wear or display them. It gets passed down as a tradition, maybe to gift your alphas with what we now know as grillz. They take on a whole new meaning.

What used to be something to hold us back, enslave us, and control us; becomes something seen as family and strength. They become a way to posture, and show off to potential mates, while also holding our history and culture close.

Why act, when you can be, friend ? If you do omegan shit then become one of us. I'm pretty sure most people in this community use a lot of misce stuff as a way to regulate and self soothe.

The misce world is not closed practice. You can take as little or as much as you like to form your own identity, pass times, copy mechanisms, etc.
