          willow swore she heard a voice calling out in the distance—real and human. panic flared behind her cat-eye sunglasses, nearly stumbling over a patch of loose gravel as she tried to dodge the light suddenly flaring near the fence line. "if they catch us, they will kill us," she exclaimed, ducking low. "i’m too pretty to be charged with trespassing."

“  what  ?  death  is  cool  but  you'll  draw  the  line  at  a  criminal  record  ?  ”  tyler  made  a  mental  note  to  stop  agreeing  to  thing  just  because  he  thought  the  person  was  very  pretty  and  a  little  weird  (  though  ,  it  was  never  a  deal  breaker  )   .  he  peered  through  the  fence  ,  trying  to  get  a  good  look  at  the  detailing  of  the  car  ,  hoping  to  see  something  that  was  familiar  .  with  his  dad  caring  more  about  his  job  as  a  sheriff  than  his  job  as  a  father  ,  tyler  knew  more  about  the  town's  people  than  he  cared  to  admit  .  “  we'll  just  have  to  go  the  long  way  .  how  do  you  feel  about  breaking  and  entering  ?  ”

“  do  you  have  to  chew  so  loud  ?  ”  wednesday  had  become  so  irritated  there  was  almost  a  lilt  of  emotion  in  her  tone  .  almost  .  the  sound  of  lips  smacking  and  crinkled  paper  in  the  seat  next  to  her  finally  pulled  her  attention  away  from  the  window  and  over  to  her  companion  for  the  night  .  “  you  do  realize  the  whole  point  of  a  stakeout  is  to  remain  stealthy  right  ?  the  entire  state  and  any  others  that  border  it  can  hear  you  i'm  sure  so  do  me  a  favor  and  rip  my  ear  drums  out  or  keep  it  down  .  ”  she  demanded  ,  a  sigh  soon  following  .  “  you  nearly  commit  vehicular  manslaughter  one  time  and  your  entire  license  gets  taken  away  .  ”  she  lamented  ;  half  because  she  was  stuck  begging  for  rides  from  others  like  them  and  half  because  her  manslaughter  attempt  was  unsuccessful  .  embarrassing  .  “  do  you  have  any  black  licorice  ?  "

“  you  got  something  for  me  ?  ”  she  wasted  no  time  making  herself  comfortable  in  a  home  she  was  unwelcomed  in  .  her  leather  boots  stomping  on  the  floor  as  she  moved  from  one  wall  of  the  home  to  another  before  her  body  finally  perched  itself  against  a  counter  ;  ignoring  the  seat  that  was  clearly  meant  for  her  .  she'd  call  it  a  power  move  ,  though  most  would  just  call  her  annoying  .  “  i'm  not  one  to  do  favors  freely  so  i  hope  you  didn't  call  me  here  without  intent  to  strike  a  deal  ,  and  you  know  what  they  say  about  deals  and  devils  .  ”

i have some work to do but i've cleared my drafts, started working on some starters, and deleted some muses i lost muse for. when i get back i'll finally be writing but in the man time, i also made an oc indie ! slice of life and supernatural muses will live there separate from the canon characters of this account so i'll be active over there too.

"okay, well.. no answer. the silence tells me everything." or does it. either she thinks he is and that's why she won't tell him, which sends a wave of excitement through his chest. or... he's ugly to her and she just doesn't want to be that rude. great. now the mystery bugs him more. "if i were you, i'd especially hit the president's son in his face. that'd encourage the thrill. you're merely chicken." amusement stretching back across his face even if he goes back into pout mode because he's irritated... he still wants to know what the secret to the locket is and why she had to be so defensive over it just to lie. "i wouldn't be dumb enough to reveal what i don't like." lips dared to twitch into a smile at her wild laughter, it was... contagious. before he caught himself and icy hues forced themselves to roll in annoyance.

"my goodness gracious," mimicking a karen with a funny karen voice, "WHAT'S so funny?" acting like he doesn't know, that's probably how she laughs imagining running over him. "what's funnier is you thinking i don't have a tiktok, even grandma's have tiktok. i've seen them." videos of women in their eighties even on there, so there's SOLID proof. "tiktok book boyfriend..." genuine confusion did cast down on him at that one, at least. "what's a tiktok book boyfriend? can i fit the equation?" joke is on her because he doesn't post any of those and his favorites are filled with videos of pranks, food places to visit locally, new things to read or guitar covers to the smiths, u2, radiohead or his other favorite rock songs. the occasional baby animal video. "no. you won't show me you're necklace, so nope." caspian easily decides, finally able to offer her a smile because he gets to turn her down now. "so don't ask. just climb in and buckle in, shorty." patting her head as they stand at the opened passenger door, pretending to bite at the hand on his wrist. waiting for her annoying self to climb so he can shut the door for her.

her  eyes  had  to  be  just  as  tired  of  rolling  at  everything  caspian  said  as  her  ear  were  of  hearing  him  the  nonsense  he  spewed  .  there  were  times  kim  wondered  if  there  was  a  pocket  universe  where  the  two  of  them  got  along  ;  or  at  the  very  least  ,  a  realm  where  they  mutually  ignored  each  other's  existence  .  maybe  they  were  never  aware  of  each  other  in  the  first  place  .  if  she  never  met  edward  it  could  be  possible  .  choosing  journalism  as  a  major  had  been  inspired  by  him  ,  or  rather  her  mishandling  of  him  .  she  never  spoke  up  in  defense  of  him   ,  so  she  wanted  to  stand  up  for  others  .  it  was  backwards  ,  twisted  in  some  ways  .  looking  for  retribution  in  the  face  of  strangers  who  her  actions  only  affected  after  damage  had  already  been  done  .  it  was  selfish  .  perhaps  karma  had  found  her  before  he  degree  in  the  form  of  the  president's  son  ;  a  lesson  the  universe  was  intent  on  her  learning  no  matter  how  she  tried  to  run  from  it  . she'd  been  having  such  a  fun  time  envisioning  all  the  versions  of  caspian  she  never  saw  that  the  locket  around  her  neck  had  been  forgotten  .  the  reminder  making  the  metal  so  hot  it  scorched  her  skin  .  the  smile  she'd  previously  adorned  slipping  off  her  face  as  she  lifted  the  hand  that  once  held  onto  him  to  her  chest  .  over  the  fabric  she  rubbed  at  the  pendant  as  if  apologizing  for  forgetting  about  it  .  a  soft  breath  taken  before  she  forced  a  smile  and  placed  one  foot  in  the  car  .  “  you  can't  be  that  hard  to  find  .  you  have  to  have  run  of  those  annoying  usernames  like  i  c  u  pian  or  something  childish  like  that  .  ”  kim  made  herself  comfortable  in  the  seat  ,  reaching  to  shut  her  own  door  in  protest  of  being  deprived  of  his  username  .  “  i  call  aux  by  the  way  !  ”  she  called  through  the  car  as  she  buckled  up  ,  pulling  out  her  phone  and  scrolling  through  which  sundays  song  would  start  them  out  .

"what  do  you  mean?  what's   that  mean?  that  you  think  i'm   handsome?"   pushing  words  into  her  thoughts,  lips  almost  daring  to  twitch  back  into  an  amused  smile  before  remembering  he's  mad  about  his  hands  that  are  stinging  in  his  pockets  for  getting  smacked.  "delicate?"  is  that  what  he  managed  to  hear  under  her  breath?  "it's   clearly  more  than  that.  why  does  it  matter  that  it's  delicate,  then?"   that  just tells  him  there's  in  fact  a  rhyme  and  a  reason.  "please.  you  don't  have  to   hide  it  from  me.  i'm  not  going  to  put  my  paws  on  it  again  and  steal  your  thrift  store  antique."  icy  hues  rolling,  just  annoyed  she  won't  tell  him,  that  it's  so  secretive  for  some  reason.  secret's  drive  him  insane,  always  down  a  rabbit  hole  of  questioning  until  he  figured  them  out.   "i  liked  it  when  you  were  shoving  me  better,"  he  retorts,  even  though  he  would've  enjoyed  her  smacking  him  quite  an  abnormal  amount  if  she  hadn't  locked  him  out  of  knowing  why  her  locket's  such  a  secret  when  he  was  just   looking.  "and  that  was  a  lousy  hit.  you  should  try  here  next  time,"  pointing  to  his  jaw.  "i'd  enjoy  that  better."   a  snort  sounds  from  the  blond,  he  was  hardly  lying.  he  enjoyed  being  on  the  receiving  end  of  physical  violence  because  he  was  familiar  with  it  over  physical  kindness,  he  learned  to  cope  with  it  at  a  tender  age,  long  into  his  formative  years  then  eventually  it  shedded  into  adulthood  of  just  being  a  thrill  to  him  –  reminding  him  those  long  lasting  affects  of  being  deprived  of  attention,   hasn't  isolated  his  ability  to  feel  joy  even  if  it's  a  twisted  joy.   but  he  hardly  realized,  it  felt  normal  to  him  &  certainly...  he'd  start  glitching  if  she  was  anything  opposite  of  aggressive  or  rough.  allergic. 

symptoms  to  nice  acts:   unnerved  and  terrified,  unsure  how  to  act.  the  secret  weapon  to  getting  him  to  show  a  different  side  to  him,  one  a  lot  more  vulnerable  than  this  face  he  puts  on.  watching  kim  retrieve  his  rose  and  place  it  behind  her  ear,  at  least  she  didn't  let  it  go  to  waste.  "oh,  that's  a  great  idea."  a  game  of  footsie,  he'll  definitely  be  aggravating  her  with  that  antic since there's still a pout he's carrying in a dull tone.  he'll  be  sure  to  remember.  grabbing  her  pointed  finger,  caspian  takes  it  as  invitation  to  pull  her  along  by  it.  "mhm.  you  just  want  to  be  a  ...  what  do  they  call  it  on  tiktok  ...  a passenger  princess."  letting  her  finger  go,  leading  her  to  the  sleek  black  bmw  that  ends  up  being  a  bit  of  a  distance  from  where  they  previously  were.  opening  the  passenger  side  to  the  cognac  brown  interior  once  they've  finally  arrived  &  the  pleasant  smell  of  new  leather.  "and  the  stalkers  over  there,  they'll  come  with  of  course."  reminding  her  of   secret  service,  not  stalkers,  loading  up  in  a  shiny black  suburban  and  ready  to  follow  as  they  routinely  do  when  the  president's  family  members  leave  the  premises.

kim  found  no  use  in  fixing  her  face  when  caspian  would  always  find  a  way  to  leave  it  contorted  in  disgust  .  astonishing  .  it's  not  that  he  wasn't  handsome  (  anyone  with  at  least  one  good  seeing  eye  could  make  that  out  )  ,  but  the  idea  that  she  would  ever  give  caspian  frost  a  compliment  without  a  gun  to  her  head  or  a  knife  to  her  throat  ?  it  was  nauseating  .  caspain  was  the  kind  of  guy  who  didn't  need  any  help  in  the  department  of  flattery  .  all  he  had  to  do  was  wake  up  and  breathe  in  the  right  girls  direction  and  receive  bouquet  of  honey  coated  compliments  about  his  stupid  hair  or  stupid  big  blue  eyes  or  stupid  grin  or  stupid  muscles…⸺ the  list  went  on  and  on  (  not  that  she  noticed  )  .  but  those  girls  didn't  have  to  sit  and  listen  to  him  talk  day  in  and  day  out  .  maybe  then  they'd  understand  why  she  grimaced  when  he  spoke  and  rolled  her  eyes  when  he  smiled  .  “  i'm  not  going  to  hit  the  president's  son  in  the  face  .  ”  she  spoke  with  a  laugh  entrenched  in  disbelief  .  “  no  matter  how  much  he  might  deserve  it  .  and  apparently  like  it  …  ”  a  shiver  going  down  her  back  at  the  thought  .  kim  figured  he  was  only  joking  ,  another  way  to  take  a  jab  at  her  and  laugh  at  how  flustered  she'd  get  .  she  couldn't  hear  the  truth  beneath  it  .  the  never  ending  stories  in  his  memory  library  weren't  ones  she  was  pervy  to  .  not  that  she'd  ever  given  him  a  reason  to  let  her  in  .  and  with  someone  like  caspian  ,  she  wouldn't  even  know  where  to  begin  to  find  a  map  ,  let  alone  the  key  to  his  vulnerability  .  maybe  it  was  better  that  way  .  the  last  man  to  be  vulnerable  with  her  was  nothing  but  a  ghost  to  her  now  .  the  only  proof  he  ever  existed  ,  a  rusted  locket  now  tucked  beneath  her  shirt  .  too  ashamed  to  show  her  own  vulnerability  .  she  didn't  like  the  similarities  . “  is  there  anything  you  don't  like  ,  so  i  can  stick  to  that  ?  the  more  unhappy  you  are  the  easier  it  is  to  do  my  job  .  ”  she  muttered  as  she  let  him  lead  her  .  normally  ,  the  act  would  have  left  her  snatching  her  hand  back  but  she  still  felt  guilty  about  the  abrasive  reaction  from  earlier  .  it  also  gave  him  something  to  do  ,  she  supposed  .  “  you  have  a  tiktok  ?  ”  the  laughter  came  befoe  his  answer  as  she  tried  to  imagine  what  his  account  would  even  look  like  ;  what  posts  were  in  his  favorites  ,  what  drafts  never  saw  the  light  of  day  .  “  you're  probably  one  of  those  weird  film  bros  going  around  screaming  at  anyone  who  hasn't  seen  pulp  fiction  ,  no  !  you  read  quotes  from  your  favorite  feminist  literature  so  you  can  show  women  you're  down  for  the  cause…  wait  ,  wait  ,  wait  !  no  ,  you're  one  of  those  ‘  tiktok  book  boyfriend  ’  povers  aren't  you  ?  ”  her  laughter  grew  with  each  guess  ,  her  head  flinging  back  as  the  sounded  bolstered  from  her  diaphragm  .  with  one  hand  resting  on  the  top  of  the  passenger  door  she  used  her  other  to  hold  onto  his  wrist  as  she  brought  herself  to  meet  his  gaze  ,  laughter  still  on  her  tongue  .  “  you  have  to  show  me  your  account  ,  i'm  dying  here  .  please  ?  ”
