People really do have a special entitlement to other people's writing that they simply do not have to other kinds of art.

Like if you post a picture of your OC, most people would think it was shitty and weird if a stranger came along and said 'death of the author, this doesn't belong to you now that it's in the public eye' even if it's not a product you're selling.

But if you're a writer, you have to shut the fuck up, the work doesn't belong to you anymore, how dare you make comments that might influence people's interpretation of it.

Director's commentary is a bonus on a DVD, an author's commentary is scorned as them being controlling of other people's relationship to the work.
