It’s interesting that when Jaime has a violent dream about Cersei and one of the men she cheated on him with, he remarks that in his dreams he always has two hands, but when Joanna comes to him in a dream, she points out that he only has one hand there, therefore it wasn’t really a dream was it? And she questions who he truly is. He wakes up and has a fond memory of a time where he could have been happy with Tyrion and Cersei as siblings and nothing more, an innocent memory of playing with snow. And then he receives Cersei’s letter to come back and die for her or die with her, and puts it in the fire.

And the next time we see him, he’s thinking about how he can take Tommen away from the throne and wondering if maybe Cersei is already dead but too bad there’s nothing he could do to save her (nvm the detail that George had to be reminded to include that passage so readers wouldn’t forget where he was at in his last chapter in feast).

And then he wonders where Brienne is. And then she shows up. And then he abandons his army for her and they elope :)
