Ok, so, this is actually only one of the ideas I had for the last prompt, meaning I think I might post another artwork for the same prompt tomorrow (if that’s ok).
Yes, the flower did come back to haunt Julie.
Yes, Wally will be watching the entire time.
Yes, my hands hurt from working on both pieces of art for the prompt at once.
This event was extremely fun and well set up!

It was a lovely day today, or at least Julianne thought so. As spring showers gently poured outside, wrapping the world in a soft curtain of gray. The rhythmic tapping against the windows filled the house with a comforting calm she had always adored. Rainy days had always been her favorite. They made everything feel quieter, slower, more peaceful.
Curled up on the couch with a book in hand, Julianne adjusted the gold-rimmed glasses perched neatly on her orange button nose as she turned the page. The warm glow from the lamps illuminated the living room while the scent of rain drifted faintly through the cracked kitchen window.
Not long after, the heavy sound of approaching footsteps echoed down the hall, followed closely by the quick patter of much smaller feet. “Ophelia, come back here,” Walden chuckled as he tried to coax their daughter into returning to her room for bedtime. “Bedtime didn't suddenly become optional.”
“I have to tell Mommy!” Ophelia insisted. The four-year-old hurried down the hallway, clutching her knitted octopus plush tightly against her chest. Her favorite dark blue blanket, decorated with stitched glow-in-the-dark stars, hung over her shoulder and dragged slightly along the floor behind her.
She had been heading toward the kitchen before catching sight of Julianne sitting on the couch. Immediately, her face lit up into a wide grin. “Hi, Mommy,” she greeted softly, her voice sweet with relief at finding her.
“Hi, Peaches.” A gentle giggle tumbled from Julianne’s lips as she set her book aside and reached for her daughter. She lifted Ophelia easily into her lap, settling the little girl comfortably against her chest.
Walden finally caught up to them moments later. A lopsided smile rested on his face as he sat beside the two of them, looking equal parts exhausted and amused.
“Mommy, I can’t go to bed,” Ophelia gasped as she snuggled closer into Julianne’s warmth. Her large seafoam-colored eyes stared up at her mother with complete seriousness. “I’m scared.”
Julianne raised an eyebrow before glancing toward Walden, who responded with a playful, exasperated sigh. Even so, he couldn't hide the tenderness in his expression as he gently ruffled Ophelia’s messy hair.
“And why are you scared, Peaches?” Julianne asked softly, cupping her daughter’s cheek while her thumb brushed lovingly beneath her eye.
Ophelia leaned closer as though she were about to reveal the world’s greatest secret. “Scared about broccoli,” she whispered quietly.
For a moment, silence filled the room. Then Walden let out a snort of laughter while Julianne stared at her daughter in disbelief before breaking into warm, helpless laughter herself.
“Broccoli,” Walden repeated between chuckles. “The vegetable.” Before Ophelia had run to Julianne, Walden had been looking through the bookshelf for a story to read to her. He had picked out a book gifted to them by her Uncle Howdy; which was about a broccoli learning how to tie her shoes with the help of her family. Ophelia, however, had not liked the story at all and immediately scurried off to find Julianne, with Walden following close behind.
Ophelia nodded gravely and buried her face into Julianne’s shoulder. “It looks like tiny trees,” she mumbled. “What if little monsters live in them?”
Julianne bit back another laugh and kissed the top of her daughter’s head. “Well, if there are monsters hiding in the broccoli, I think your father can handle them.”
Walden placed a hand dramatically over his heart. “Ah yes. The mighty scientist versus terrifying broccoli monsters. Truly my greatest battle yet.”
That earned a soft giggle from Ophelia, her fear already beginning to melt away as the sound of rain continued to patter gently against the windows around them.
