An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Chapters: 1/? Fandom: Danny Phantom Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Danny Fenton & Maddie Fenton Characters: Danny Fenton, Maddie Fenton, Jack Fenton (Danny Phantom), Jazz Fenton Additional Tags: Post-Danny Fenton Identity Reveal, Family Drama, Misunderstandings, Maddie can't accept Danny's identity, (she thinks he's dead whoops), you could say she's half-right... Summary:
A month ago, Danny revealed his secret to his parents. At first, it looked like he was met with unconditional love and support. But now, the façade is starting to crack.
That thing had called her “mother” again.
It hadn't been the first time and it wouldn't be the last, but ever since she found out, Maddie's heart squeezed painfully when it happened. It was a reminder that for the past year, she had been living with a crude imitation of her deceased son.
And for eleven months, she had failed to notice.
chapter 1 of a new fic is up :) (i say as if i had plans to finish it)
A silly grayghost identity reveal for dannymay day 13 truth!
I've read too many fanfics about this, he's really a big fan.
New hobby: stitching together DP screenshots to create panoramas
Beautiful! I will be using these for reference. They also make the world feel a little bigger, seeing how locations and scenes connect to one another.
awesome girl with a REALLY lame crush. my favorite

I LOVE THE DANNY PHANTOM FANDOM
It's cool when fans can develop the dark foundation of a cute show into a very creepy and interesting universe. I love the dark side of kid's cartoons
It's just a shame there isn't much content with this ghostboy
proposition: danny's hair turns white in random patches when he's used too much power, he just dyes it back to all black when he gets home

Rereading the transcript for the episode Girls’ Night Out just affirms my convictions that Jack Fenton is a wasted comedy potential character because he is both funnier, and more accurate to what they show him canonically being capable of, when he’s permitted to be competent.
Like… rewatching Danny Phantom as a story reminds me that I adore all of these characters, but, also, it is extremely obvious that they are tethered to posts of character writing and not really allowed to roam- and for Jack, it’s the Bumbling Dad stereotype. He has to acquire whatever traits make him unthreatening, comical, and move the plot.
But the few precious times they really actually let him off the leash and allow him to act as you would expect a scientist in an extremely niche field who knows how to build and operate complex laser guns and was instrumental in synthesizing a hole in reality twice, he doesn’t get less funny, he’s hilarious. This is, by all logics, a terrifyingly educated man who brutalizes a lake monster with cheese spray while yelling about the fudge festival rodeo.
Like I joke about him having Dr. Coomer energy but I am also dead serious about him having Dr. Coomer energy.
#BUTCH LITERALLY JUST COULD’VE LET THIS MAN GO AND HE WOULD’VE BEEN ABOUT THIRTY TIMES FUNNIER #DANNY SITTING THERE LIKE ‘WHAT WOULD DAD SAY IN THIS SITUATION?’ #IMAGINARY JACK FENTON POPS UP ‘REMEMBER DANNY; PHYSICS IS A FICKLE GOD AND IT DOESN’T LOVE YOU!’ #‘SO ALWAYS MAKE SURE PHYSICS DOESN’T WIN!’
Why did you leave this in the tags OP?
tucker's real sick of this shit
Started this back in February, but then I gave up in the middle of the sketch because I couldn’t figure out the arms.
Picked it back up and finished it just now. Y’all get to decide and draw what you think scared him.
Tumblr decided to kill the quality here huh
Show, don’t tell
"Show, don’t tell" means letting readers experience a story through actions, senses, and dialogue instead of outright explaining things. Here are some practical tips to achieve that:
1. Use Sensory Details
Tell: "The room was cold."
Show: "Her breath puffed in faint clouds, and she shivered as frost clung to the edges of the window."
Tell: "He was scared."
Show: "His hands trembled, and his heart thudded so loudly he was sure they could hear it too."
2. Focus on Actions
Tell: "She was angry."
Show: "She slammed the mug onto the counter, coffee sloshing over the rim as her jaw clenched."
Tell: "He was exhausted."
Show: "He stumbled through the door, collapsing onto the couch without even bothering to remove his shoes."
3. Use Dialogue
What characters say and how they say it can reveal their emotions, intentions, or traits.
Tell: "She was worried about the storm."
Show: "Do you think it'll reach us?" she asked, her voice tight, her fingers twisting the hem of her shirt.
4. Show Internal Conflict Through Thoughts or Reactions
Tell: "He was jealous of his friend."
Show: "As his friend held up the trophy, he forced a smile, swallowing the bitter lump rising in his throat."
5. Describe the Environment to Reflect Mood
Use the setting to mirror or hint at emotions or themes.
Tell: "The town was eerie."
Show: "Empty streets stretched into the mist, and the only sound was the faint creak of a weathered sign swinging in the wind."
6. Let Readers Infer Through Context
Give enough clues for the reader to piece things together without spelling it out.
Tell: "The man was a thief."
Show: "He moved through the crowd, fingers brushing pockets, his hand darting away with a glint of gold."
7. Use Subtext in Interactions
What’s left unsaid can reveal as much as what’s spoken.
Tell: "They were uncomfortable around each other."
Show: "He avoided her eyes, pretending to study the painting on the wall. She smoothed her dress for the third time, her fingers fumbling with the hem."
8. Compare to Relatable Experiences
Use metaphors, similes, or comparisons to make an emotion or situation vivid.
Tell: "The mountain was huge."
Show: "The mountain loomed above them, its peak disappearing into the clouds, as if it pierced the heavens."
Practice Example:
Tell: "The village had been destroyed by the fire."
Show: "Charred beams jutted from the rubble like broken ribs, the acrid smell of ash lingering in the air. A child's shoe lay half-buried in the soot, its leather curled from the heat."
The way some of y’all be drawing and headcanoning Danny makes me think y’all would love reading Blue Exorcist.
Like, people over here drawing Danny and he looks exactly like Rin. You need to read blue exorcist, you would love to read Blue Exorcist.
Y’all want a danny with adhd who’s emo but doesn’t act like an edgelord, has pointy ears and fangs, a tail even, bro he’s right there.
And then the dp aspects y’all like are there too. Like, the kid’s half demon and doesn’t know until he’s 15, then has to hide it from everyone around him, including his friends, out of fear that he’ll be killed for it. What’s not to love!
Please read blue exorcist. Don’t watch, the show is a really mixed bag with a lot of bad. Read it.
If you don’t trust me, ask any other dp fan who has read blue exorcist. It’s fucking good, you’ll love it.
I love blue exorcist, love love love blue exorcist. The art gets so good as you go through the manga, and I’ve cried real tears about Rin’s very cool dad.
Rin’s easily one of my favorite characters, I enjoy his combination of being a good kid who just keeps blundering into trouble. He’s the ultimate protagonist. A punk kid who still tries to find the bright side and loves to cook
And the story itself is so so fun! Demons, a bunch all with different motivations, lab experiments gone wrong, clones, but underneath it all it’s really about family
listen to Jackson he knows what he’s talking about!
YES!! YES!! YES!! ITS SO GOOD IT MAKES ME PHYSICALLY ILL AND BRO ITS SO FUCKING COOL!!
I love how it just looked kinda like a run of the mill story at first, fucked up yeah, but not anything too insane, then bro, the cloning stuff happens and it’s like bro, this is so unbelievably fucked up. And Rin just has to deal with that.
I just, bro it’s so perfect. I could go on for legit hours about the subversion of expectations and how rather than subversion for the sake of shock like most will do, the subversion here is genuinely interesting and makes everything just so much better. And the character subversion is also so fun and cool and stuff!!
Like, I’m so impressed that Kazue Kato had the restraint to keep the most interesting pieces of information away from the audience for this long.
a dc superhero pretends to be OSHA to gain access to the Fenton’s lab and the door is slammed in their face, multiple explosions and crashes are heard including "SCATTER! REMEMBER YOUR TRAINING KIDS!" and the ops centre flies away
May i present:
what if fun danny and super danny lived on as the angel and devil on danny's right and left shoulders
*covered in blood* I'm literally fine guys. im still funny. Would you like to hear a joke Im going to tell you a joke
