FULL NAME: nickolas william gray NICKNAME(S): nick , nicki , grayzy AGE: appears to be in his 20s ; actual age is 48. HAIR: dark brown ; used to lighten in the summer months when he was still alive. often kept shorter on the sides and longer on top. while his hair is often styled straight , it has a natural curl to it ; most notably when he first wakes up or doesn't put much effort into styling his hair. EYES: blue ; often a darker hue but can also appear as light or icy blue. HEIGHT: 5' 11" BUILD: athletic ; thanks to being a natural-born athlete and his many years playing sports. LANGUAGE(S): english ( native ) & russian ( close to fluent ; thanks to his mother forcing him to take classes at a young age and speaking in her native tongue to him ). SEXUALITY: bisexual ; but has mostly only been with women due to his home environment. FAMILY: robert gray - father ( think: aiden gillen ) ; sofia vesna - mother ( think: denise gough ) ; older brother ( think: fionn o'shea or louis partridge ) & younger sister ( think: saoirse ronan or maisy stella ). OCCUPATION: ghost / college student [ verse dependent ] ; received a scholarship to play college hockey. PERSONALITY: nick was born a naturally shy and gentle child. he clung to his mother in his early years until his father thought he was "too soft." he's learned to be more sociable but still gets anxiety in public situations. through sports , his dad taught him to take a hit and not quit when he's injured. he can also be stubborn and sometimes has a spark of his dad's anger that usually takes a lot for it to come out. FACECLAIM: paul mescal ABILITIES: despite being a ghost , nick appears to be solid and obeys most of the rules of the living ( ie. he cannot float or move through walls , can physically travel in vehicles , and can touch and be touched by living people ). he doesn't eat or drink or need to sleep and can disappear and appear at will. not everyone can see him. those with particularly strong senses will be able to see him clear as day as if he were still alive. the young and the elderly tend to be able to see him as well , but how well depends on each person ( or if they carry the talent to see the dead ). if he's feeling extremely emotional ( ie. highly depressed or angry ) , he can flicker or completely disappear -- the only way to know he's around will be through sounds or movement of objects ( like the sound of skates on ice but nobody there ; a book flying across the room and slamming into the wall in an empty room , etc ). nick won't willingly speak about his death but may open up to someone he's feeling connected to. while his grandfather's pond holds mostly good memories , it can , on rare occasions , trigger the memory of his death. in particularly bad moments , he ends up reliving his death -- sometimes on what feels like an endless loop -- until he can snap out of it.

nick is constantly playing sports: if he's not playing hockey , he's playing soccer. and when he's not playing sports , he's swimming or running or hiking ( or reading or spending quiet skating on his grandfather's lake ).

nick received a full scholarship to play hockey for a popular d1 school. when he's not on the ice , he's studying to become a biologist ( with a concentration on wildlife ). that is , until his life is abruptly cut short.

nick doesn't remember exactly when he died. which is fine , because he doesn't like to think about it , anyway. so he tries to act as normal as possible. appears to be a typical college-aged kid going about his life.

his father pushed him hard as a kid once it was known that nick was a natural-born athlete. father wanted him to go pro right out of high school but his mother pushed for her son to get an education so he ended up at a large D1 college on a scholarship. ended up being scouted and drafted by ottawa in his first year.
𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙿𝙸𝚃𝚃 𝙰𝚄
was destined to be a pro hockey player until a career-ending injury left him sidelined. decided to become a nurse instead ( much to his father's disappointment ). now he's a trauma nurse who is often seen riding into the ed on his skateboard. dana gave him grief one time about not wearing a helmet after he came in with a skinned chin and knees.
