it seemed like the one time that barton didn't pay attention to the weather online that day was when they got a quite big storm in their area, as if were — and so it seemed like he was now stuck within forrest's home whether he wanted to be or not. though, if barton were being honest, he really didn't mind being quote unquote 'stuck' with forrest in particular. he actually liked the other well enough, and considering that the whole reason why he he had come to his home was for a house call, the doctor didn't think that the other probably would mind that he was there either. he had been there to check over forrest and make sure that everything was okay with him as he'd called barton's practice sort-of in a panic, saying that he felt this sense of impending doom along with was experiencing breathing issues.
so, of course barton had rushed over to forrest's home to see what the problem was. there was nothing physically wrong with the other, however, from what the doctor could tell; and so he highly suspected that the other had experienced either some kind of anxiety or panic attack. that is what he diagnosed forrest with after listening to his lungs and askimg him some questions such as whether this was the first time he'd felt this sense of impending doom, if he had a history of asthma or any kind of lung disease in his family, among others as a result. but in any case, right after this had occurred was when the storm started to hit, and barton at first thought he might be able to still go home. until he heard the shingles, metal, or whatever was on forrest's roof begin to shake with the wind.
he sighed as he threw his hands up in defeat at this, and that was when forrest had told him he had a spare bed. barton drummed his fingers along the windowsill of the one he was looking out then at the torential downpour outside and took a moment before nodding. ❝ ahh, well... if you insist. it's not like i really have any other choice. it wouldn't be wise for me to leave now that they're saying the wind gusts outside are going up to 30 MPH now online, it seems. ❞ he pocketed his phone after looking at that slightly frightening fact and tried to think of something they could do in the meantime. preferably together. ❝ do you have any games, like candy-land or something? because i may always win at candy-land with my kids, but i suppose you never know with strangers — you might just surprise me. ❞
barton winked in a 'blink-and-you'll-miss-it' moment at the other before stifling a small smile, ❝ thank you for letting me stay, by the way. ❞
