I like snow and ice tracks. A lot. I had a lot of inspiration for writing these kinds of tracks from when I was younger. Tomba, Jak and Daxter, Zelda, etc. This is just a simple, solitary, cold track, originally inspired by Tarm Ruins.
This is one of my favorite tracks, to be honest. It’s not often I’m terribly proud of my own work, but something about this piece just...makes me feel accomplished. I can’t really tell you where the inspiration came from for it, or what brought it on. Regardless, I hope you enjoy it.
A re-envisioned version of a song I wrote a few weeks back. During Cyber Monday, I bought a couple of new instruments through Soundiron, and decided to have some fun tooling around with current projects. I really like how this came out, mixing some strange elements like piano and vocals with electronic noises. Overall, I’m pleased with how this version came out. Sometime soon, I’ll upload the original.
This is actually one of the first tracks I ever wrote, back when I was VERY green at this whole thing. (I still think I’m pretty green) This was back when I couldn’t really afford nice instrument samples, so I was using some of Boldt’s free samples. Though they may not have the same quality as some of the high-priced sets out there, there’s something about them I think really worked here.
This is a part of Unity Concept, an album I was creating for a fantasy adventure game that I would have loved to see come to life. It was meant for a snowy isolated area, with little visibility and sort of a grand sense of solitude.
Snow-covered areas in games have ALWAYS grabbed my attention, so creating a track like this seemed to flow very naturally at the time. Between Tomba 2′s Kujara Ranch, Jak and Daxter’s Snowy Mountain, Twilight Princess’s Snowpeak area, there was SO much inspiration for this track. Overall, I still really love it after a great deal of time has gone by.
I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Dakota James Emery Dennis, and I write original music. From time to time, I also do covers of numerous tracks from video games. I’ve drawn heavy inspiration from SO many different places, and I’m thrilled to share my work with you.
To start, I’d like to show my most recent composition. This was a MAJOR overhaul of a very old track, which originally started as a cover/remix of another song. I'm actually REALLY proud of how the whole thing came out. It makes me feel like I've been able to make progress over the years. I'd say my biggest influence on this was Graeme Norgate and his work on the Timesplitters series. He’s a brilliant composer, with an unbelievable range.
