controversial post time: gerard way is a person who has auditory hallucinations; his joan d’arc comments discuss something that actually happened, NOT in a hyperbolic way. in terms of mental health, that is unequivocally psychotic. it is no more forcing a label than calling someone “anxious” or “depressed”. any specifications beyond that, is on Gerard to decide. The word psychotic can be just a descriptor. More importantly than that, constantly asking “what the fuck is wrong with them” or “they’re so weird”, when it comes to describing psychotic symptoms is starting to come off as being really gross. Your psychotic mutuals can see how you talk about hallucinations — and even if they couldn’t, you should do better by it. I’m not calling out anyone here. I don’t think most people think twice about it, because Gerard in general is someone who is weird, and many of these comments are playful-affectionate. But it still is annoying? gross? to use it to explicitly about their hallucinations, when that is playing directly into a real, existing stigma.

ALSO HE GOT HIT BY A BUS!!! idk, speaking as someone who is 28 and also has EBV/ME/CFS and a shit immune system (similar chronic illness stuff to what he’s spoken about) it’s fucking astonishing he used to do so much shit on stage because i’d fucking die if i tried half of that even now let alone at 40 post-being hit by a bus and breaking both wrists. frank has somehow returned to performing through sheer force of will and love of music and i respect the hell out of that AND the way he’s prioritising his health while giving it his all. anyway. i luv frank.
