LONG ANDERPERRY FIC REC LIST

Hello! I wanted to share some of my favorite anderperry fics so that all of you can enjoy them too!

Most of them are completed, if they aren’t, I’ll mark them. I will also mark MCD, although there’s only one in this list.

1. letters to my dearest beloved by UniversalSatan - 34k, 4 chapters

Neil, amidst his own internal emotional conflict, accidentally stumbles upon letters Todd had been writing in secret to an unknown recipient. Neil (an idiot) continues to intrude on Todd's privacy by reading each new letter in secret, continuously agitating over their purpose. (This was the first anderperry fic I ever read - highly recommend)

2. What We Stay Alive For by PiscesVanity - 66k, 18 chapters

Ten years after the death of Neil Perry, Todd Anderson wakes up with a second chance. (This is one of the classic anderperry pics for me, so so good. Also one of my first ever reads)

3. everyday, always by drpeppercreamsoda - 13k, 5/? Chapters INCOMPLETE (last update: 7 April 2026)

Fluffy married anderperry au (super sweet and wholesome read, I love a lot of drpeppercreamsoda’s fics)

4. Dream a Little Dream of Me by luria (QualityMutants) - 34k, 8 chapters

Todd and Neil run to NYC to pursue their real passions in life. They're in love but they don't know it and all it should take for them to realise is some kind people in their lives, a record player, and lots and lots of trust in each other. (Love love loved this fic, I love a nyc escape)

5. Let Me Wallow in Your Afterglow by Glittery_Bubbles - 125k, 7 chapters

In which it's 1960, the Poets' senior year at Welton, and Neil's writing a secret play, his magnum opus, but there's just one problem: Todd keeps getting in the way. (Literally my fav fanfic EVER, internalized homophobia? CHECK, slow burn? CHECK please read this it’s my whole heart)

6. Don’t Listen, Just Feel by OstrichEnergy - 73k, 16 chapters

Modern au featuring deaf!Todd Anderson and a smitten Neil Perry as they navigate high school. (This fic is so much fun and filled with great drama)

7. can i lay in your bed all day? by currentshitboy (4evrrr) - 7k, oneshot

Todd just wanted to get a coffee before his first lecture, Neil is lost in New York City; and young love blooms faster the second time around. (Anderperry reconnect in 1970s NYC. Short and super sweet)

8. I Read You for Some Kind of Poem by Glittery_Bubbles - 51k, 4 chapters, MCD

in which it’s 1981, New York Times bestselling poet Todd Anderson has run out of words to say, and he just so happens to run into the only boy who always knew how to speak up for him. (This fic is so well-written it reads like a novel. Is it the saddest thing I’ve ever read? Also yes)

9. come live with me and be my love by trouvailleamor - 28k, oneshot

Neil and Todd, living their life together, both very much alive. (Pure fluffy anderperry bliss)

10. Don’t Erase the Kisses by Glittery_Bubbles - 14k, 2 chapters

in which it’s 1995 in NYC, Neil is just trying to scrape by as an actor with his barista gig, and there’s this annoyingly attractive regular who has an equally attractive girlfriend, not that Neil cares or anything. (1990s coffee shop au, I love anything Glittery_Bubbles writes)

11. I Am To See It (that I do not lose you) by The_Ship_Pirate - 43k, 12 chapters

timeloop fic where Todd gets stuck reliving the night of the play until he can save Neil (PEAK fic, seriously I LOVE this fic. MEATLOOP ;)

12. Checkmate by love_me_like_a_sailor - 11k, 2 chapters

When Neil realises Todd has been having trouble sleeping, he decides he’s not going to let him brave the night alone. Late night conversations and a game of chess leads to late night love confessions. (I love an anderperry love confession)

13. Speak Low by the auxctor - 89k, 17 chapters

a modern day university AU in which Neil lets daddy issues prevent him from telling Todd how he feels, Charlie doesn’t know how to knock, Meeks and Pitts are the only characters with brain cells, and the Neil Perry Support Group is born. (Super fun fic that explores the group in college and also in a modern au. Also some pretty good side Knarlie, if you’re into that!)

14. read between the lines by mikeythemage - 35k, oneshot

Todd kisses Neil, and he spirals from there. (Great kissing writing, and also great discussion of internalized homophobia/ fear of homophobia so what can you ask for really)

15. show me yours and i'll show you mine by smoosnoom (moonsooms) - 16k, oneshot

Todd has revelations - some about love, but mostly about writing. They're the same thing, in the end. (Todd tries playwriting, and discovers some things)

16. Glory and Gore by alexxsweater - 48k, 7/23 chapters INCOMPLETE (last update: 13 may 2026)

Dead poets society hunger games au! (Super great characterize of Todd and really interesting plot, I always eat up a hunger games au)

17. was I most complete (at the beginning? or the bow?) by potentiallyunlovable - 25k, 7 chapters

Neil is a ghost haunting Todd, Todd can’t decide if he’s real or if he’s finally losing his mind (SUPER underrated fic, this was so so good and interesting)

okay maybe i’m crazy maybe i’m delusional maybe i am s1 joyce byers BUT

1) “i’m ready to show him i’m not afraid anymore” [cut to mike whose face is half covered in shadow and half covered in light]

2) jancy “we need to be a team again” parallels

3) jopper moment in the same spot in the field framed between those two trees as vol 1

4) will was still asking about the progression of robin and vickie’s relationship. he asks if the relationship happened after she accepted herself and she said no, the next “step” was telling others. only after that were things able to snowball -> avalanche with vickie. that moment in volume 1 hasn’t been forgotten. will had that expression on his face for a reason. he’s following her timeline: self-acceptance, sharing, avalanche. we still have chekov’s painting, we still haven’t seen what mike’s looking at in his bedroom (EDIT: I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT TO MENTION WILL USING THE SAME WORDING OF “feeling different” LIKE IN THE VAN I GASPED WHEN THAT HAPPENED MIKE WILL PICK UP ON THAT TRUST)

5) in the second “waterfall” conversation mike is the one to include the rest of the party with how it’s their story. if it’s meant to be a romantic “we can run away together just the two of us” moment, why bring up all their other friends? (also him saying “friends don’t lie” stood out to me)

6) why were there so many solo shots of mike. WHY WERE THERE SO MANY SOLO SHOTS OF MIKE

i feel like they’re trying to lead us to believe that all mike is is his tammy (which is not true in many ways, the MOST IMPORTANT BEING mike and will are not strangers. they’re best friends, they’re each other’s first friend- but that’s a different plate of cookies for a different glass of milk). however this is will’s story, maybe the narrative is pointing us in direction because that’s will’s pov. we still have NO idea what’s going on in mike’s head, for all we know will could be thinking “it was never about mike, maybe he was my tammy and that’s okay, i’ll find love later like robin did” while mike is on his hands and knees like “PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE”

the thing i’m most mad about is how we STILL haven’t seen mike’s pov. we don’t really know what he’s thinking or how he’s feeling. maybe that’s intentional, maybe he’s refusing to let even himself really understand how he feels/what he thinks, maybe will coming out is the first push of the snowball down the hill. but it’s still incredibly frustrating not to know any of his perspective, esp because i’ve been so confident in byler and now i fear the clown music is catching up to me (i say as i go back and add more to the list as my brain processes everything)

for my own sanity until the final episode i will continue to scream that in will’s pov mike is will’s tammy but in mike’s pov mike is will’s vickie
