The pep in her step hadn't gone unnoticed, nor did the proud smile she wore. Up the stairs she practically ran, skipping a few steps before excitedly, and enthusiastically, raising a few sets of paper into the air above her head.

"I have something about the class IV we saw last week. I found it in an... older copy of Tobin's Spirit Guide," Which was code for ' a Reanimator possessed the book and I only now managed to find a not entirely singed set of pages from the scorched spine ' . "I think that--"

A pause as she realised that they weren't listening, sigh soft as she set the pages down. That could come later - whatever they were working on seemed more important anyways. So, she stepped across, removing one of her black gloves and wiggling her fingers to regain some feeling.

"Is that a new upgrade?" She asked, voice a little louder than before in hopes of snagging attention of any kind. "Anything I can help with?"

“If my suspicions are correct which, not that I’m an EXPERT, should be, we’re relatively safe. I mean, a parallel universe to our own, sure, but that DEADLY portal created by that CLASS VII SPECTER could’ve delivered us to a much worse fate,” The Rookie spoke as she led the way through the FAMILIAR library, walking backwards as to address Egon and Ray.

“As long as we don’t interact with our alternate selves, we won’t be in a Back To The Future scenario.”

“Who’s the Doc?” Ray asked, swallowing thickly ( thoroughly scared ) .

“Well, Dr. Spengler’s more the brains, and I’m more Marty. So, I guess you’d make a George or Jennifer?”

“Why am I the girl?”

Egon shared a look with the Rookie, one of KNOWING and amusement, but otherwise offered no reply. Then, abruptly, Ray and Egon paused to point in a synchronised action.

“GHOST!”

“Shit!”

She turned on her heels, eyes widening, and she raised her arms to shield herself from the slime. But it never came, and instead, after she was done blocking her face, she came to gaze upon the other at the opposite end of the small maze of bookshelves.

The three blinked in unison, and she looked back to her accomplices; the two men shared a look, relayed it to her, and it became clear that she’d have to play AMBASSADOR.

So, turning back around, she offered a smile of forced calmness, “Hey, uh, sorry about the noise. I’m– we’re GHOSTBUSTERS,” As if to prove her point, she ran her finger along her ’ ROOKIE ’ name tag, and Ray and Egon loosely followed from behind her, “Just took me off guard, is all. Under control, sir.”

The trio climbed out of Ecto, stretching out their almost dead legs. Their HEAVY proton packs certainly did a number to begin numbing them, but it was manageable. They all looked to Janine, taking in her differing appearance.

"I'm glad to see that hasn't changed," Ray mused sarcastically quiet to Egon, in reference to the secretary's seeming disinterest in the matter at hand.

"Where's your Peter?" Egon was the first to ask, gaze averting to the stairs. He peered up as far as he could see, wondering if the layout was the same as their own.

Ray gently set his pack down, the Rookie following closely behind; the two quietly retrieved their packs of cigarettes from one of many pockets on their uniforms, and Ray waited for the Rookie to light his as he had forgotten his own lighter before setting off on their job.

Then, he paused, gazing to their counterparts in a moment of concern, "Can we smoke in here?"

 Holtzmann watched him confiscate the petri dish, her eyes widening at the sudden flare of metallic taste over her tongue. She opened and closed her mouth a few times, face scrunched as she mulled the taste around, trying to dispel it with a scrape of her teeth.

 Then she reached out a hand across the work bench, gasping as a few tiny screws leapt upwards and stuck to her outstretched finger, magnetized.

   “Woah.” She breathed, an excited grin spreading across her face. “I feel funky.”

Okay, now that... THAT wasn't normal.

He leaned down in order to gaze more certainly at whatever was happening; apparently, it appeared that the non-reactive variant of the Rookie's testing things GREATLY IONISED the blood... to the point where it acted as a magnet.

That, also, was not very healthy.

He should get Ray and the Rookie over to take a look, maybe they - - no, no. This could be a limited time thing ( the ' working ' variant only lasted two hours and ten minutes ) .

"Can you feel anything particularly PAINFUL right now?"

"So they had a BACK TO THE FUTURE moment at the tracks?" Ray thought about this, about how RIDICULOUS it sounded, but then remembered their job; they were currently in an alternate universe, talking to their parallel selves, and that made no sense either. "Fascinating!"

"Oh, no," The Rookie dismissed ginger Ray, head shaking in disagreement, "It's all luck, Dr. Stantz, believe me."

"Nonsense! You're a lot more helpful than you let on," Ray smiled as she sent a silent ' thanks ' his way, "You should think about hiring a Rookie, guys. You could test a lot more equipment, a lot more quickly."

"It DOES go well with your hair, Dr. Stantz," The Rookie agreed, automatic response accompanied by a nod, "That's... unfortunate, I must say," She began in response, lulling over an appropriate response that didn't inadvertently roast their colours. "Have you considered just... buying the same colours next time you order some?"

"After we establish contact with OUR Peter, I'd like to take a look at your Slimer. Also, your containment field. I'd like to see how they differ, or are the same," Egon spoke, mainly to his counterpart, before gazing out of the window at the passing streets of New York.

"Should we be... quiet when we get to the firehouse? I don't want to startle Janine or Dr. Venkman, and I'm sure they don't either," The Rookie peered out from behind her pack to glance between Winston and Egon at the front of the vehicle, a brow arched.

The scientist reached over to take the petri dish from the woman, as if she was PETER and he had to make sure she wasn't going to SERIOUSLY injure herself. Or everyone in the firehouse.

"These are the non-reactive variant of the one that the Rookie is in the process of testing. They're more or less harmless, but have the property of a ' fridge magnet ' . "

A pause as he stared at her, as if waiting for a HORRIBLE reaction from that which she had shoved into her mouth, and then he looked over to the Rookie, who was talking excitedly with Ray ( most likely about their most recent Class IV, but that was normal )

"They're not meant for ingestion... how do you feel?"
