the "biblically accurate angel" trend is such a perfect encapsulation of a pet peeve i have which is everybody wants to criticize the bible but nobody wants to read the bible. like when people were drawing crazy amalgamations of eyes and wheels talking to mary and saying "be not afraid" and everybody was like omfggg OF COURSE she was scared. like no actually the angel looked like a guy can you read 3 lines of text... they were saying be not afraid because it's scary when a random man suddenly shows up in your house and starts talking to you

Just finished my final essay. Not as dreadful as I feared. Mainly just wished I did it earlier in the day, rather than at night. Still have that time management issue...
I get that losing all those sweet moments is really frustrating because people want more vulnerability, but at least I have hope that we won’t end up with a bitter taste of “no matter how you treat the Entity, the Entity is the same” after the finale! 🙏🏻 I think the Entity kind of is the Princess/Shifty of Scarlet Hollow, and the devs have hinted at that parallel more than once; someone even asked if Sybil was like Shifty, and they answered that if anything Sybil was the Narrator of the story... This is relevant, imo, because in your final interaction with Shifty in Slay the Princess, she suddenly throws in your face literally everything you ever did and said to her to drive her point/convince you if you resist, so your every choice did matter, even though she always loves you anyway. My guess so far is that we’re gonna have a big ass moment and/or confrontation that will feel like a true Boss Fight with the Entity in which it will finally and directly address your individuality. I think the fact that the Entity is always watching you, and listening to your conversations with other characters (such as the convo between you and Stella in ep 1, when you elaborate about your life and spot two eyes glowing in the distance) is very telling. I think it’s slowly taking note of every tiny detail about your personality, including what you think of Wayne and Isaacs and how you behave, and then the rug will be pulled off your feet when it turns all its power of persuasion on you, with a speech specifically tailored for you... Kinda like how Sybil tries to frame your choices as bad if you criticize her, but somehow much more intense.
Yeah, I've been thinking a lot about that, truth be told. I, too, believe the Entity will be a Shifting Mound-esque creature, which worries me because... well, don't get me wrong, I for one love the Shifting Mound to bits, I love Her more than I love the individual Vessels, truth be told, however...
... I do not really love how Pristine Cut presented Her as Narrator 2.0. Like, yes, they have completely different ideals and desires... but when push came to shove, they went to the exact same direction of "I'm not wrong, I can't be wrong", and that kinda... sucked? Because again, no matter how different they are, at their core they have the exact same fatal flaw of Having An Opinion They Really Want To Defend™ (which is direr in the case of the Shifting Mound, since Her opinion is, essentially, "Hey I fucking deserve freedom from this place!) and Slay the Princess, much more so than the love story part I would say, emphasizes that your agency is sacred and anyone that doesn't listen to you is Wrong(™). So obviously, both Narrator and the Shifting Mound end up being antagonists, not necessarily because they don't have a point in their own way, but because they're not respecting what you want enough. Which of course, makes the Heart!Princess feel like the correct choice because she doesn't really have strong opinions about anything other than loving and caring for you, and she exercises her agency by sitting down demurely and letting you decide whatever you want <- totally not bitter rant
Episode 5 of Scarlet Hollow already made me feel a bit suspicious due to the sheer amount of similarities between the Witch and the Entity. I'm gonna try keeping an open mind, but eeeeeh, suspicion takes time to abate, specially when Wayne seems to be way too indulgent with the MC in a way that reminds me too much of Shifty... Like, it's not that I don't enjoy his toxic, deranged devotion to the player, it's as interesting as obsession usually goes (I think obsession is interesting because I often don't truly understand it, especially when it's about being obsessed with real people; it's such a fascinatingly illogical thing), but I do hope there's more idiosyncrasies to Wayne than the Shifting Mound was allowed to have. That by the end of it all, it doesn't fall once again to, "I love you unconditionally regardless of how you treat me". Like, Shifty, girl... kill that cuck bird, oh my god...
I absolutely love the idea that, despite not having relationship stats, how you treat the Entity DOES/WILL matter. Possibly also including how you treated others (especially if you locked away Reese) would be an amazing scene.
I would find it interesting if the Entity does feel unconditional love....until it realizes "oh no this person actually hates me and is rejecting me". Up until this point, Entity is unconcerned with how its treated and sees the MC as throwing a tantrum, so imagine it actually snapping when its forced to take an antagonistic MC seriously. Especially if Entity does truly believe that it and MC are magically bond lovers, a "reward" of sorts after decades of suffering, and realizing this person despises it.
