they hate me on account of my Make Everything About Doctor Who tendencies
oopsie-doodles something went wrong with the perception filter
the thing w Amy is I think she wants to be a freak, like sexually, but she would not be good at it. Amy read Fifty Shades of Grey unironically (she's cringe) and decided to make Rory dom her but Rory is just so so bad at being a dom due to lacking both the inclination and the charisma and it wasn't sexy. she might hypothetically be into being dommed by the Doctor but even leaving aside the infidelity angle in her heart she knows if the Doctor tried to dom someone it would involve building some kind of Spanking Contraption with string and ping pong paddles and calling it 'spanky' and she would not be into that. it never occurs to her that she could dom Rory. such is life.

Just saw a post about which incarnations of the Doctor would swear and I kid you not, this is what it said about 13:
Only when she's angry but it's be mild swears like bloody, ass and crap, ect but she be convinced she's just said the most offensive word known to man.
You're. You're kidding, right? The Doctor that spends the better part of two series practically vibrating with rage? The one that's had her entire life turned on its head? The one who carries the Gallifreyan equivalent of booze in her pocket everywhere she goes? The one that's played by an actress that swears like a fucking sailor every chance she gets? That 13th Doctor?
Like, okay, fair play if you haven't seen anything beyond promo pics and maybe her first episode and think she's a bubbly little space princess but I guarantee if Doctor Who allowed swearing every second word would be some sort of profanity and she would not give a fuck.
Well now I have to do my take on it...
Uses mild swear words and feels all edgy and cool because he Said A Bad Word! hehehoohoo!
He is actually literally using "giddy aunt" as a swear word. He's decided cussing is childish and not very intellectual.
Swears eloquently in several languages, but rarely a language his listeners can understand. When he does use English, the words he chooses are usually archaic. That doesn't stop a few of them from being recognizable. Fuck has been around for a long time.
Swears like a sailor and is deeply annoyed to discover the existence of the TARDIS swear filter. He eventually manages to disable it, but Romana turns it back on and makes sure it stays that way.
He doesn't need to swear, he can passive aggressive sarcasm you to death. But when he's really exhausted, he hasn't forgotten any of Four's favorite words.
He doesn't need to swear, he can sass you to death. He shares Two's opinion that swearing is childish, why be crass when he can be eloquent?
Mostly doesn't swear, but when he does, Ace and Benny learn new words.
He starts off thinking it's crass and rather beneath him, but by the time we get into the War he's given up on the eloquent romanticism and he'll just tell Ollistra to go fuck herself. (So will War)
He seems like he'd swear but actually he doesn't. It would be too obvious, and also too much like the wartime version of himself who stopped caring how he sounded. He drops an occasional non-translated Gallifreyan swear word in moments of intense stress, but for the most part no.
Not when he's consciously keeping his happy dumbass persona. But when he lets it slip and his darker side comes out, he'll use a few very well-chosen and vicious vulgarities.
Swearing just sounds ridiculous. He tried it a few times and Amy laughed at him; he sounds like a kid trying out his first bad words. He feels more comfortable with milder language.
Early on, not much, because he's too focused on who he is and what kind of person he is to let himself slip into careless vulgarity. Later, once he chills out and starts feeling more comfortable in his skin, he'll drop the occasional swear, but not super frequently. He still tends to choose his words carefully and make them matter.
Lol yeah she's on Four's level of telling everyone and everything to go fuck themselves. She doesn't try to disable the profanity filter though, because she feels a little embarrassed about expressing herself in such a simplistic way.
Not much, but he picks up a few habitual swears from Donna.
He's way too careful about his diction and presentation to swear casually, but in exactly the right situation, he might use a carefully chosen word for emphasis or to startle someone into listening.
Christopher Eccleston as Ninth Doctor Doctor Who —Season 1, 26 March – 18 June 2005
One of the things that always strikes me about Twelve's regeneration story is how it seems to come out of nowhere for the characters and how much more heartbreaking it makes it.
He's just going on a little jaunt with his companions. Taking Missy outside for the first time. The first ten minutes or so are really fun low stakes banter. And then suddenly everything goes to shit, Bill's been shot, there are Cybermen, and the Saxon Master and the rising dread as it becomes apparent that none of the recurring characters are making it off this ship alive, even the villains.
i think this is why it's a so much more effective story than any other New Who regeneration story, and why Parting of the Ways is the only other one that comes close. This is also a story that presents itself as a fun space romp, reality TV in the future, until everything comes wrong. They feel like normal episodes until they're suddenly they're not
