did you do any smith pre-college programs? if not, could you possibly direct me to someone who did? thanks!
Hi, thank you for your question. Unfortunately, I did not attend any smith pre-college programs and I did not personally know anyone who did that before. However, I think you can definitely find someone who attended the programs from http://summer-at-smith.tumblr.com :)
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to all of the ladies who were accepted “early decision” this evening!
Congratulations to the first members of Class of 2019! Welcome to Smith!
Hello hello! would you say smith wants people who took a lot of AP classes? Because i did not and i really want to be accepted! Will they still accept me?
Hi! Thank you for your question! Comparing to other aspects such as essays, GPA, extracurricular activities, SAT or ACT, I would say AP would not be such an important factor that will change the admission decision significantly. I know many Smithies who did not take any AP classes when they were in high school. In addition, unlike many universities that allow students to use AP for credits, students at Smith could only use AP to place out some intro classes (except for some special conditions). Therefore, don't worry about not taking AP classes and just do your best in the application. Good luck :) Please feel free to ask me if you have other questions.
Looking forward to having the Halloween diner today lol
On the past Sunday, the sophomore cabinet organized the Pajama night for our class, and we invited President Kathy and her husband Bill to our "Slumber Party."
Besides the Pajama Tea, we also organized a donut welcome back event in the beginning of this semester, which was a great success as well. We are going to present many other activities soon, such as a special workshop on Junior Year Abroad for sophomore only and new class apparel. Please stay tuned by following our page (https://www.facebook.com/smithcollegeclassof2017sga)
hi! i'm an international student planning to apply to Smith and i was wondering if you would share your experience as an international student? How was the orientation, is there an international students organisation, how is the weather, etc. Thanks so much!! x
Hi! Thank you for asking the question! Someone asked a similar question about being an international student at Smith before, and here’s the link to my answer :http://gigiatsmith.tumblr.com/post/83579789431/hi-gigi-im-an-admitted-student-class-of-2018-from I described the orientation for international students and the ISO (International Student Organization) in that answer. Actually, next Monday is the IS Day, when international students cook the cuisine of their countries or regions and sell it to the campus community. You can get tons of delicious foods cooked by students at that time! (Here’s a photo of me preparing fried rice for the IS Day last year :) )
In addition to the ISO, there are a lots of cultural clubs at Smith representing different countries or region. For example, CISCO (Chinese Inter-regional Student Cultural Organization) organizes several events celebrating traditional Chinese festivals (and provides lots of yummy Chinese foods at those events yay!). Last week, Asian Students Association (ASA) and the Korean American Students of Smith (KASS) also organized the annual Asian Teahouse, as students (not limited to international students) performed traditional or modern dances and presented other acts. These kinds of cultural organizations undoubtedly offer a great sense of belongingness for the international students :)
Talking about the weather, New England in general has warm summers and cold, snowy winters. I am from the tropical Southern China, and I had never seen snow before I came to Smith, but I still survived the long snowy winter haha! Basically you would not stay outdoor for a long time and you have heating indoor. By the way, at this point the heating in my house has been on for two or three weeks.
Please feel free to ask me if you have any other questions!

Hey! I was just wondering, what's your major/minor at Smith?
At Smith, students do not need to declare their majors until the end of their sophomore year. Therefore, as a rising sophomore, I have not declared my major yet. I still want to explore more academic fields before making the final decision, but at this moment, I am considering of double major in psychology and economics :)) (omg, I still can not believe that I am no longer a first year but a rising sophomore!)
hello Gigi. I am Elizabeth from Tanzania. I would like to enroll for smith next year. I will take TOEFL next week. my question is can I get contact to where I should send my results to? Thanks in advance
Hi Elizabeth! Thank you for you question. If you are taking Internet-based TOEFL test (iBT), you can enter Smith College together with its code via iBT registration system online. It would be free to send your score to a limited number schools prior to the test, and after taking the test, you can send the score online, by fax or by mail (more detailed instruction: http://www.ets.org/toefl/ibt/scores/send/)
If you are taking paper based TOEFL (PBT), you can write down Smith College together with its code on the admission paper, bring it to the test center and ask the staff there to send the score. After the test, you can send your score by phone or mail. (more detailed instruction: http://www.ets.org/toefl/pbt/scores/send)
The code for Smith College for TOEFL test is 3762, and you can find the codes for different institutions in this page: http://toefl.etest.net.cn/en/DIS
The address for Smith College Office of Admission is:Smith CollegeOffice of Admission7 College LaneNorthampton, MA 01063
I think these are all info that you need in order to send your score :)) I am an international student as well , so please feel free to contact me again if you have any other questions. Good luck with your TOEFL :)
