For the kids who lost Steven Universe.
For the teens that lost Steven Universe.
For the adults who lost Steven Universe.
We've lost shows before. This isn't the first time an era of cartoons ended. We, just like Steven and his family, are headed right towards our own Era 3.
Some of us remember what it was like to lose Era 1.
Some of us only remember Era 2.
And some of us lost both.
If Tumblr allowed more than ten pictures, I could definitely put a couple more up there that we've lost. Like Ed, Edd, and Eddy or Star vs. The Forces of Evil.
It doesn't matter how many eras we saw rise and fall in our lifetimes, it's gonna hurt either way. But what Era 2 kids need to know is what the Era 1 kids learned.
There will be another show for you.
I know it doesn't seem like it now. I never thought I would connect to another show like I connected to Foster's or Danny Phantom, but then I fell in love with Era 2.
And that's okay. You may not find something that replaces the passion and love you felt for Adventure Time or Gravity Falls, in fact, I guarantee you won't, but you are allowed to move on.
Era 3 seems scary. I get it. Era 2 paved the way for some really important things like the importance of mental health and better representation for LGBT community.
How could Era 3 possibly hold up?
Well, so far, we've had great representation for the LGBT community, the importance of mental health, and fantastic PoC rep. Not to mention some of the coolest animation I've seen in a while.
Just look at all the great shows we have so far:
Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
And there are probably more on the way!
It's gonna be hard. Trust me, I know. But to every single Era 2 kid, from all of us who lived through Era 1, we promise...
You've got this. We've got this. And we've all got each other.
