can i say that being an anti-ai soad fan has been a fucking nightmare lately. everywhere i go, i see ai voice covers related to soad. it's always a bit insulting, too. i keep getting recommended videos titled "(x) song (1998 serj cover)" and i've never even watched one of these stupid covers. to me, it feels so much like an insult to serj's voice as it began to age. not only is it unacceptable to steal someone's voice for ai covers, but it's also being used to "fix" the voice of a real person. i'm disgusted. i'm tired of seeing rude comments degrading serj tankian's voice after 2005 or so. nobody knows how to treat the man with some fucking respect. you can have your own opinions on a singer's voice but don't stoop as low as using ai to make it "better" for you.
i stumbled upon an insta story using ai serj to replace DARON'S voice, with a comment like "this is so much better than the original" and it makes me feel so gross. how do people just SAY things like that?? so not only are people using ai to rudely "fix" serj's own voice, but daron's too. i don't know if the people who do this are aware of what kind of attitude this could spread.
soad fans are already so ridiculously toxic about the singers' voices. i see a lot of fighting over what or who's voice is the "better" one, being straight-up mean to these singers, when it seriously just.. doesn't matter. using ai like this only makes it worse. stealing people's voices isn't okay, making people's voices say or sing things they haven't done isn't okay, and using ai to fix what isn't broken is just disrespectful. i am so TIRED.
