âHey, Tsumiki!âÂ
Once more, Mahiru felt a tiny bit of refreshment from seeing a familiar face - even in a place like this.

Kiss me, quick! Assuming that's okay with you, of course.
10. Jaw
âI - I donât really know you, so this is kinda weird, but... okay...â
A nervous flush spread to her cheeks as Mahiru contemplatedwhat she was going to do. Swallowing hard, the girl nervously stood on her tiptoes, her lips brushing against the other womanâs jaw gently. As soon as she felt it was enough, she pulled backand muttered an apology. That was probably the worst âkissâ theother girl had ever received.
Hearing that, he put his hand to his chin and surveyed the area before turning back to fact her as if a light went off in his head.
âNot so fast. Weâre just getting started here.â
âNow that I think about it, there were people gathered around this game not too far from here. I heard itâs pretty hard, but I wanted to give it a shot anyway. You can get all the pictures you want with a crowd like that.â
âOh! Hey, that sounds fun. What kind of game, though?â
She could only imagine the shots sheâd get to take with a crowd of strangers. But it didnât bother her - in fact, quite the opposite, Mahiru felt safe behind her camera lens. Once she made friends here (if she stayed in this city, that is), she could come to the next festival and participate. But for now, she didnât mind taking pictures.
Send me "Kiss me, quick!"

â...G-Gundam?â
Mahiru hadnât seen her classmate since the island; seeing yet another person she was familiar with caught her off guard a little. She didnât have a problem with the boy, either (though he was a bit strange...), and it only took a moment for a slight smile to appear on her lips.Â
âHey... Good to see you again.â
âYouâve got a point, I wouldnât mind if it stuck around a little longerâŠâ
Or forever. As long as it took for him to forget where he was.
âHave you been walking around getting pictures this whole time?â
âYeah. I like festivals, donât get me wrong - I just havenât made many friends here yet, so I just came to get some pictures. Iâm probably going to go back home in a bit...â
She really did want to enjoy the festival, but how awkward would it be if she just invited herself to hang out with strangers?
â â âI-itâs okay, I know,â He responded, quickly waving his hands around, albeit only slightly. He knew what she meant, it had justâ well, it reminded him that he wasnât exactly home. Though, who knows, maybe this place could become a new home. It would probably have to, anyways. Who knows how long heâd be staying here?
Shifting slightly in place, he glanced at his surroundings before looking back to her. It wasnât that Finn was afraid, really, he was just shy, and nervous. Talking to others had never exactly been his forte. He let out a little sigh, trying to ease himself because, since he was talking to someone nice, there was no reason to be so nervous.
âY-you mean help, like⊠l-like looking around together?â The boy blinked, looking surprised for a second, before giving a small nod. That would be nice, and maybe this would be a chance to make a friend. âU-um, yeah! Y-yeah. âŠA-and um, by the way, Iâm⊠I-Iâm Finn.â
âYeah, we could look around! Iâm sure thereâs strength in numbers. Weâll be safe.â
She felt a little nervous hanging around a stranger, but he seemed nice enough. Plus, theyâd just both introduced themselves - did that make him a stranger anymore? Mahiru gave a soft laugh, her fingers plucking at the camera strap around her neck.Â
Glancing around the area, the redhead hummed to herself and asked, âWell, what district were you assigned to? We could look around there first, Finn.â
It wasnât often that he was in the spotlight. Sure there had been a few things here and there that earned him some measure of notoriety, but he still wasnât quite used to and doubted he would be.
âMust be great to have something youâre that passionate about. Are all of your photos of people passing by?â
âYeah. I like to take pictures of happy people, and... well, this is a happy occasion... So I thought why not?â
It made her feel a bit more relaxed being in this city, if nothing else.
This festival really attracted all kinds. Compared to some of the people heâd seen around, a photographer was infinitely more natural.
âRaishin Akabane.â
âI live in the zeta district around here so you can fine meâŠ.around. Though having just a disposable camera must be rough.â
Not that he knew much about photography to begin with.
âNice to meet you, Akabane. Oh, and itâs fine! I donât care if I have a cell phone camera - as long as I can take pictures!â
*CLICK!*
She snapped a few more pictures of the man; while she preferred to photograph women (they were just so much more interesting), Mahiru had to admit anyone looked beautiful in front of the flowers.

âHey! Donât forget that April Foolâs Day pranks are supposed to be fun! I donât think I need to remind you to be mindful of what youâre doing!â
â â He really didnât like this reality, and he had hoped that maybe, it was all some kind of pretty bad dream. That, of course, was untrue, and he knew that already. At least he found someone who felt similarly about this whole thing. Not like there wouldnât be others who felt the same, he was sure, but he was⊠well, shy. Finding others was not the easiest thing in the world. Â
âG-gettingâŠ. home? IâŠâ Oh, he would love to get home. But that was likely to not happen. Who knows how long he would be here. ââŠI-Iâm not sure, I⊠I think I want to l-look around before I go⊠umâŠÂ âhome.â B-butâŠâ
Suddenly, Mahiru felt bad that she had used the word âhomeâ. She had just meant this guyâs current residence, not necessarily his home - they all wanted to go home, didnât they? - but sheâd blurted it out and made things more awkward than they needed to be. Sighing, she rubbed the back of her head nervously and replied, âIâm sorry... yeah, I meant where you were staying here.â
She pinched the strap of the camera laced around her neck, feeling the nervousness seep out of the boy. Why was he so anxious? He wasnât being a creep, so he didnât need to be afraid of Mahiru or anything... She didnât get it.
âDo you need any help? I mean, Iâm pretty new here too, but...â
The redhead offered simply because she didnât want to walk around this city alone - and because, well, she was a decent human being.
âOh? I didnât think thereâd be someone taking pictures here, but I guess itâs not that surprising.â
âWell, Iâm not like the appointed photographer for this festival or anything... I guess you could say I just have a passion for taking pictures.â
Or a âSuper High School Level talent,â if her title was anything to go by. Not that that made her as particularly special as her friends, though...
âI was given only a disposable camera here, so Iâll have to find you to show you the picture when I get them developed. My nameâs Mahiru Koizumi, by the way.â
While crafting a flower crown for herself, Honey decided to offer it to the individual next to her â petals coated in pastel pinks and blues. âAh hello there, would you like to keep this?âÂ
âHuh? M-me?â
Why would anyone want to give her something like that? Mahiru felt her cheeks flush at the mere sight of the object, a beautiful display of colors she hadnât seen offered to her before.
