Remember! To drink!! Water!!!!!!! Okay!!
The First Day of my Period
I get cramps first, so I immediately take painkillers. Some women take them the morning that they’re supposed to start, which also helps eliminate cramps before they begin. On this day, I usually start with a pad, because tampons make my cramps worse, so I don’t use those until the pain is more manageable.
I’m usually in excruciating pain, so I lay down on top of my electric blanket and groan. I don’t eat much, and I try to sleep as often as possible. Staying hydrated and taking hot showers also helps. Other than that, i just breathe through the pain.
If you know who to credit for this, lemme know!
Questions
Hit me up if you have any questions about periods, Tampons/pads, bras, boobs, mental health, and so forth. I gotchu.
Ladies, period trackers are a lifesaver. Not only do they help you be prepared, but they keep track of past periods. If you have to go to the doctor for something period-related, they usually ask for a record of your last three periods. Clue is the one I use, and it’s super helpful.

Pads vs Tampons
Pads are good for nighttime, or for long stretches when you can’t change them. They’re also best for first time users. They can, however, be uncomfortable. Some women say that they feel like diapers.
•
Tampons are best on heavy flow days. They can be worn while swimming, and aren’t as obvious. Some people are a bit skeptical or nervous their first time using them, though.
•
In the end, use whatever makes you most comfortable, and make sure to do your research. 😉
How I Manage Period Cramps
• Ibuprofen and acetaminophen can be taken together, and believe me, this will save you.
• a hot water bottle, rice bag, or a ziplock with hot water (double bagged) is a godsend
• get a heated blanket and lie on it on your stomach.
• drinking lots of water before and during will make the whole process easier
• learn how to breathe through it. Trust me. Advil takes time to kick in and this will help.
• warm (decaf) drinks!
• stretching sometimes helps, honestly
• showering can help, but when you get out, it might hurt worse
• know when your period is coming so that you can prepare, even taking painkillers a 12-24 hours before
Some Things that Happen to Me on my Period and What I Do about Them
•my boobs hurt (drink less caffeine!)
•i become reallyyy clumsy (be patient with yourself!)
•I get so very grumpy (more sleep, more exercise)
•and anxious (warm blanket)
•and— *starts crying for no apparent reason* (chocolate. Lots of chocolate)
•I’m exhausted (naps!)
•debilitating cramps!(hot water bottle and painkillers)
I know there’s more, and I’ll make sure to post more in-depth remedies for some of these. Let me know what your symptoms are!
