got you - malachi barton
malachi barton x fem!bsf!reader
requested: no.
warnings: reader having her period + being sick, cussing, fluff, malachi taking care of reader, teasing, mentions of stomach pain/period cramps, and more??
the sound of the bathroom door closing was the only noise being heard throughout the whole house.
"oh fuck." the lack of pads lying there made you curse out loud, sighing while grabbing one and finishing your business, stepping out and basically limping back to your room in pain.
it was day one of your period.
the worst day of them all.
tomorrow was gonna be the same, the pain you were feeling unbearable.
just then, your phone rang throughout the whole room, the only lightsource being your pink LED lights set to the dimmest level.
a small smile threatened to form when you glanced at the caller ID, accepting it.
"yeah?" your voice rang out, quiet and breathless.
"hey princess! what'cha doin?"
"hey chi. i'm just lying in my bed right now. what about you?"
"oh, i'm out with the boys. thought i'd check up on you... is everything alright? you sound like you're in pain."
"oh, yeah. i just got my period, don't worry. my stomach's killing me though."
"oh shit. do you need anything?"
"what would i need?" you smile despite all the cramps. he just has that effect on you.
"hmm, i don't know. snacks, pads? tampons? whatever you use."
"i do need to get some pads later, but other than that i'm good."
"okay then, i'll get them. you stay right there."
"you don't even know which ones i need."
"you're right. text me the brand name and i'll find it."
"no, malachi. it's okay. don't you find it embarrassing buying pads for me?"
"what? no! never. it's totally normal."
"that's sweet of you, chi. but you don't need to do that."
"no, i insist."
"what about your friends?"
"they'll understand. they all know i'm outta here as soon as you need me anyway."
"yeah, simp."
"whipped."
"that boy's ready to marry her."
"he's so gone for her it's not even funny anymore."
the guys on the other end could be heard commenting on what malachi just said, roasting the poor boy.
"wait a sec."
you then heard a noise that sounded like slapping, knowing he probably hit them, quietly shushing the boys before returning back to the call.
"anyway, i'm back. sorry for that. do you need anything else?"
"nope, i'm good."
"what about snacks? or maybe a heating pad?"
"no, i already got mine here."
"alright, i'll be there in ten."
"okay."
"...malachi?"
"yeah?"
"thank you."
"of course. anything for you. i'll see you soon, alright?"
"mhm. bye, love you."
"bye, i love you."
and with that, you hung up, a bright smile now on your face, feeling a lot better at the thought of malachi coming over.
a sigh escaped you, slowly and carefully standing up to try and at least go lie down on the couch downstairs, hoping to relax more without all the chaos on your bed.
there were tissues everywhere, due to your runny nose, which most likely indicates a cold.
still, you made your way down the stairs in just a tank top and some cute olaf pajama pants, lying down on the couch immediately.
with the knowledge that malachi had a key to the house, you fell asleep as soon as your head hit the pillow, cuddling with your teddy that he once gifted you.
half an hour later, you were woken up by the sound of a bug rustling.
"hey princess. wakey wakey, santa came early."
you blinked at him, slowly sitting up with a groan, which caused his eyes to soften, face full of concern.
while tugging up your tank top, that's when you noticed he'd gotten you a blanket.
something in the kitchen dinged, loud enough for you to hear.
"oh! i'll be right back." and with that, he was gone out of your sight.
you took the time to sit up fully, rubbing your eyes tiredly.
just then, your phone buzzed from the table, the screen lighting up the dim living room. you groaned, rubbing your eyes before picking it up.
“hellooo?” your voice was rough, still heavy from your nap.
“damn, you look like shit. are you sick?”
“maybe,” you muttered, stretching lazily. “feels like a truck hit me.”
“yeah, figured. then you are indeed sick. do you need anything?”
“nah, i’m okay. probably just… my period. starting to feel like i got a cold too though.”
“you poor thing. and you’re all alone at home?”
before you could answer, a faint clatter came from the kitchen. moments later, malachi appeared, carrying a tray with soup, tea, and a small bottle of ibuprofen. his hair was messy, sleeves rolled up, eyes softening when they landed on you.
the caller’s eyebrow rose as she squinted at the screen. “was that… malachi just now?”
you blinked, tilting your head toward him. “yeah… he came over earlier, i think?”
he smirked faintly, stepping closer. “i came over like twenty minutes ago. have to take care of the princess when she’s sick, of course.”
you rolled your eyes, muttering under your breath, but the corners of your lips twitched.
the caller laughed lightly. “alright, looks like you got some company after all. i’ll leave you two to it.”
“thanks,” you whispered, the warmth of malachi’s presence already easing your aches.
“bye,” he added, shooting a quick wink.
“bye,” you said, ending the call.
malachi set the tray down on the coffee table and plopped beside you, handing over the soup and medicine. “want me to stay while you eat?” he asked softly.
“yeah… can we watch a movie after?” you murmured, curling slightly into the couch.
he nodded, settling next to you. when he noticed you shiver, he peeled off his hoodie and draped it over your shoulders. it was way too big, swallowing your frame, but the faint scent of his cologne hit you immediately, calming you in a way nothing else could.
“wow, you really look like death warmed over,” he teased lightly, nudging your shoulder with his own.
“shut up, chi,” you groaned, tucking your chin toward your chest.
he grinned, leaning closer. “i’m serious though… someone has to take care of you, and lucky me, i get to.”
you rolled your eyes, but the heat in your chest betrayed you. he draped the blanket over both of you, slinging an arm over your shoulders as you leaned into him.
as the movie played, malachi absentmindedly traced shapes on your forearm with warm, steady fingers, eyes flicking to the screen but never missing the little twitches your hand made under his touch.
“hey, you’re supposed to eat,” he murmured, nudging the soup closer to you. “don’t just stare at me like that.”
“i’m fine,” you mumbled, but your smile betrayed you.
“sure you are,” he said, eyes softening again, leaning back slightly. “you know, that blanket isn’t nearly enough to keep the princess warm.”
you groaned, hiding your face in his chest. “shut up.”
“i’m serious though,” he whispered, pressing a little closer, his fingers still tracing patterns on your forearm. “you look way too cute like this.”
you let out a small laugh, shivering slightly. he noticed instantly, slipping his arm more snugly around your shoulders.
a few minutes into the movie, your eyelids grew heavy. you let out a soft sigh, curling closer into him. malachi’s voice teased gently, barely audible over the movie: “falling asleep already? the movie hasn’t even started properly.”
“hmph,” you mumbled, nuzzling into his chest, “i’m tired.”
“yeah, yeah, i know,” he chuckled, fingers still tracing your forearm, tugging the blanket just a little tighter. “but you’re lucky… i like taking care of my princess.”
your eyes fluttered shut, but before you fully drifted off, malachi adjusted the blanket over you again, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of your head.
“sleep well, alright? i’ve got you,” he whispered softly.
the warmth of his hoodie, the soft tracing on your arm, and his steady presence wrapped around you like the safest cocoon imaginable. you let out a contented sigh and finally gave in to sleep, completely at peace in his arms.
