He was facing the wall, his long crooked body convulsing. You approached him with wobbly steps, not a word spoken. He sensed you and you felt him tensing up. But you kept heading towards him. You laid a tender touch on his shoulder blade, letting your fingers slide down his back. He flinched, but didn’t pull away from your hand. You moved a step closer to him, resting your forehead against his back. He continued to repeat obsessively I let him down. Seeing him ravaged broke you into tiny pieces. Tears started to form in the corner of your eyes. You pressed your body against his back, crossing his chest with your forearms, pulling him into a tight hug. He was surprised at first, but he didn’t oppose you and soon, he gave in, his body softening. You swung him tenderly in your arms, feeling his heartbeats calming down. But his burden must’ve been too heavy, even for him, so he howled resentfully your name and his hero’s. As he shouted that everything vanished int thin air, scraps of those dark dreadful flames cornered his body out of nowhere, burning your feet as well in their raging spread. His cremation hurt you, but you didn’t fled away, he needed you there to be his pillar, so you bit your lower lip as one teardrop rolled over your cheek, wetting his back. Slowly, he turned around and he gazed you. “Not everything... For I am still here.”, you whispered, your voice shaking. You caressed his cheek, delicately stroking his stitches. His flames died down gradually while he hung his head down and his eyes fell upon your scorched feet. It didn’t take him more than a second to figure it was his fault. He fell on the floor, down on his knees. He hugged your calves and you let your body slide next to his, so your faces were at the same level. He muttered an apology you never thought you’ll hear coming out of his mouth. You smiled as he took your feet in his lap, soothing them with soft touches. As you were watching him affectionately, you pulled his head at your chest, kissing him dearly and lovingly on the forehead, enfolding him with your arms. For the first time since he was a kid, he cuddled at someone’s chest, not letting go of your feet. Now that he realised he had to start anew, he was frightened hence he never thought about anything else. But you were there and your presence itself calmed him. You stroked his spiky hair until he let out soft snores. You both laid on the cold floor, awaiting a new frightful start.

She was something else. Truly. She was Africa hot now and cold as Antarctica the next second. But she always smiled. People said she was a psycho… well, she was, but you noticed she was so much more wary of her unusual delights around you. She never lent a blade on your flesh, because you were her first truly friend. And she finally fell for someone who didn’t reek of blood. She needed you to come reassure her everything will be just fine, that this won’t be the end of the road for her. That there is an escape. Night after night, you had her tucked in, protecting her from her nightmares, from her little demons that were brought alive with this incident. Night after night, she screamed and cried hysterically, struggling to wake up. But you were there to caress her body and put her back to sleep after you soothed her ill mind with warm words. That night, nevertheless, was no different from the rest. She barely woke up from another vicious dream, but the cold shoulder she gave you... it was different. She jerked away from your hand as she sat up, reaching under the bed. She yanked her trusty dirk and pointed its tip at you while giving you a sly grin, mischievously laughing, her cheeks burning up with her tears. The picture was frightening altogether. “You, you did it, my dearest. You made allllllll the fingers point at me”, she sang before pausing for a moment to breathe and laugh like a maniac, choking herself as you got up from the bed calmly. “You. I held you close, you... you are to blame, you are the one to reek of blood. Let me fall in love with you... properly this time”. For the first time in a while, she had that bloodthirsty look plastered on her face again. But you didn’t wince. You stood right there, straightening your back, pulling a stern face on. She came to you furiously, drawing her blade near your cheek. Then, her laugh diluted into quivering sobs. Your expression softened as you kept looking into those yellow eyes that revealed a mad, unloved person, that made you look at her with affection and care. “…why…why don’t you scream… Why don’t you leave me… why are you still here…”, she muttered as she gagged herself with sobs and tears. You grabbed her hand and poked her forehead playfully. As you caught her eye, you smiled gingerly, wiping her tears with your thumb, dragging her trembling body into your arms. “Because i love you, silly, isn’t it obvious?”, you giggled, and her warm sided wasn’t late to appear, suffocating you with a tight hug, making you both fall on the bed. She was mad. But you were there to keep her sane, even for sprinkles of time.

My, he was such a handful for you. Especially because all these puns pissed him off. Little did he know that he’d become bored to the point’ll feel like something’s missing from him if you’d stop doing all those silly things that made him smile; not those creepy mischievous grins he’ll flash to the rest, but those small smiles that only you had seen, in the corner of his mouth. When doing so, he’d cover his face with his hand, acting all angry and grumpy, but you knew his blushing was creeping out and he had to hide it for the sake of his ‘imagine’. You teased him about it at a lot and he always seemed to be on the verge of disintegrating you, but you never feared his quirk. That’s why he was intrigued by you. He never saw someone so careless around him, so playful and so touchy with him. At first, he was shocked, frightened. He was wary around you. And he had all the reasons to be, you came in his life with your muddy boots on and jumped up and down, shaking his world. He no longer thought of anything else besides you. You were a shadow that was expanding steadily, shading his mind. And he knew deep down he needed you. But he couldn’t help his hatred for people sometimes, their smiles and laugh and when you’d laugh cause of something else besides him, he’d go berserk, not cause of jealousy, no. Just insanity. Pure thrilling insanity that you wanted to cure. He’ll shout at you, blaming whatever came in his mind about you first, throwing hurtful words at you. He always felt sorry afterwards, wondering how can you still stand him. You always replied ”That’s what kids do, they don’t think”, and you always laughed it off. But you were hurt. You always convinced yourself he was worth the pain. So you were willing to endure it all for his sanity. Someday though, it was too much to bear it all, everything was crushing down on you and all you needed was some peace and quietness. But he went on a rampage again, hitting the walls with his fists. You asked him to stop, only that time, but he straight ignored you and continued to throw his tantrum. That was the droplet that filled the glass. You felt the blood heating up and your vision became blur of anger and unspoken feelings. Your mind was coated in venomous thoughts. So you just roared. He stopped moving, even blinking, looking at you with a face you saw only at the beginning. You managed to form words after your throat felt like burning and they were a far cry from being nice and loving as always. You thought out loud: ”Shut your goddamn trap, got it?! All I hear from you are always fucking complaints! Can you just give me a FUCKING BREAK?! Don’t you think I have bad days too?! Don’t you think I hate things too?! Did it ever cross that fucking self-centred mind of yours that you piss me off too?!!”. At this point, even the air got thicker, being hard to be inspired in your lungs. You never ceased to surprise him. For a second, he was unsure, he didn’t know how to act. He felt both angry and understanding towards your feelings. He formed his fist before releasing it and he sighed. Without any words, he sat on the floor, cross-legged, looking down at his feet. That was his way to apologize… to show you he deserves your words. You were so furious, so full of loath and bitterness, you felt like you could just dig your fangs into his flesh and kill him. But you didn’t. You just sighed and knelt in front him, grabbing the hand that was covering his face, trying to remove it. He didn’t oppose it as usual, he let you see his teary eyes. That shattered your heart. You bent your body over his and went in for a hug, but he stopped you. Confused, you looked at him, clumsily grabbing your wrists, making you embrace his waist. You smiled as he pulled you at his chest, nuzzling your hair. No words were needed anymore, he realised that you needed love just as much as he did, and that you both needed each other, more than anything else.
