A message to the Power Rangers fandom

Can you all please stop getting all up in arms about the casting news for the 2017 movie? Seriously, you're all getting pissed because "Zack isn't supposed to be Asian" or "Billy isn't supposed to be black." But did you ever consider that just maybe they're not using Jason, Billy, Zack, Kimberly and Trini as the characters? Think about it for a second. We currently don't have any information on the story other than the fact that the Mighty Morphin powers will be used in some way. All casting announcements have only had Ranger colors, not actual names. And don't even start on the "_____ is the only true _____ Ranger" bullshit. Whoever you're using in those blanks may have been the first, they may be your favorite, but they are not the "only true" person to don that Ranger color. And then there are the lot of you that are saying shit like "I've never heard of _____. They haven't been in much, so they're probably not gonna do good." Were you on another planet when they said they were looking to cast actors who were "relatively unknown"? Oh and, don't any of you dare say they're "ruining my childhood" or "disrespecting the franchise." They are doing no such thing. The Power Rangers we grew up with is still there on DVD, on Netflix. It's not like this movie being made removes their very existence. You want the original Power Rangers? Then go watch the original Power Rangers. I trust that Saban and Lionsgate know what they're doing with casting. And I am in no way hurt or offended by the casting. I have been a fan for 22 years, since the show started. I've seen many different Ranger colors portrayed by actors of different ages, ethnicities and genders. If we can have a Hispanic White Ranger, a black Pink Ranger or a female Red Ranger, we can certainly handle this casting. Be happy we're getting a movie at all. It's been like 18 years since we had Power Rangers hit the big screen, and I for one am looking forward to being there opening night. You can find me in my Red Ranger tshirt, a Red Ranger snap back and red pants, sporting a 3/4 sleeve Power Rangers tattoo, enjoying seeing my favorite franchise come to theaters for the first time since I was a child.
