āYeah well good. I almost vomited all over your face because I couldnāt stand you negativity. People call me a shank?ā He said a grin landing on his face and then he brought his hands up to hit herās when she held them up. āI mean āoutā as in not always working. Maybe rebelling from authority? I swear you could use an adrenaline boost I bet.ā He titled his grin at her and slipping his hands into his pockets giving her a little nod of apporval. āFirst things first ā you sound exactly like that! Especially when you get all worked up like right now. You voice goes like two octaves higher.ā He couldnāt help but grin a big bigger once he noticed her smile. It almost gave him a bit twinge inside of him and not noticing where it came from he pushed it back down. Minho always tried to not let his emotions or feelings get the best of him unless it was the oneās to keep him survive. But with girls or the mushy gushy shit, he tried to just keep it the farthest away from him. It wasnāt like he didnāt have sex or whatever, he was a boy and sometimes life just needed to get their way, but it was just casual, no strings attached. Or at least it was on his side of things. āDefinitely the most cold hearted person in the entire glade. No heart. Thatās why it makes it so much easier for people to talk to you because you just give them reality, no fluff, marshmallow shit in between. Robot? Maybe thatās why you voice is so high? ā Me? Sweetheart as much as I know you love talking about me I noticed right away when things are about me.ā When she placed her hand on him, the initial shock made him catch his breath in his throat. After a moment though he smirked at her and placed his warm hands over herās, holding them in place on his chest and titled his head, his smirk deepened and his voice lowered. āYeah? Well then I guess I really am human. With a beating heart. Guess that means Iām the better man here doesnāt?ā
āIf you almost vomited all over my face, wouldnāt you be ā I donāt know ā making some sort of pukey face like youāre about to throw up? Unless you naturally look like youāre going to throw up, I mean,ā Delilah challenged, a smug smirk on her face. āBesides, Iāve heard a lot more negativity than that ā not coming from me, which I know, is a shocker but what do ya know? People can be surprising,ā she added before gently trying to push him back as his hands met hers. Refusing to believe that she sounded like that ā or ever sounded like that ā she shook her head with disbelief, thinking that he was just having her on. He had to be. āNo I donāt, stop saying that! You know itās not true.ā Then, as though a lightbulb flickered in her brain, Delilah had an idea. Smirking lightly, she tilted her head to the side and said, āFine. If I do sound like that ā then prove it. If thereās no proof, then itās obviously not true.ā She peered up at him with an innocent smile, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. When it came to some people, she was different. With some, she was able to be playful and perhaps let her guard down a little bit. When it came down to others, it didnāt work as well. Perhaps it was because they thought she was too up tight, or they caught her on a bad day and held a vendetta against her for that sole reason. However, for some unknown reason that even Delilah couldnāt explain, she always held a soft spot when it came to Minho. Not like sheād ever satisfy his ego with the knowledge, but the feeling was there, no matter how much she tried to push it to one side. āI thought thatās what youāre here for. The ārealityā stuff is what they run away from. Ah, of course. Youāre my favourite subject to talk about, obviously. Because what else would I ever think of exactly?ā Perhaps her hand lingered there a little too long, but the sudden moment of silence between them struck something within her that almost made her weak at the knees for some unexplainable reason. Minhoās hands over hers caused her to snap out of it as she looked back up at him, trying to steady her breathing, completely ignoring the fact her heart was thumping against her chest. āConsidering that Iām not a man, I guess so because thereās no other man around here to take the role of being the better man. Because everyone else is over there,ā she grinned up at him, nodding her head in the direction where the other Gladers were.
